In an air servo cylinder formed by integrally combining an air cylinder, servo valves, and a controller via a manifold block, there are provided, in the manifold block, air discharge flow paths for releasing, to the outside, compressed air discharged associated with operations of the servo valves. In each of the air discharge flow paths, a silencer for reducing exhaust noise is incorporated so as not to protrude from the manifold block to the outside.

A method for controlling an air servo cylinder apparatus includes an advancing process of advancing a piston up to a target position by controlling, by a controller, servo valves individually connected to a pressure chamber on the head side and that on the rod side of the cylinder, and a pressurizing process of subsequently applying a required pressurizing force to the piston. In the advancing process, the piston starts to be driven with the servo valve on the head side opened to the air intake side and the servo valve on the rod side opened to the exhaust side. Thereafter, the opening degree of the servo valve on the rod side is varied into an opening degree in accordance with a deviation of the current position from the target position, and thereby the piston is smoothly decelerated as it approaches the target position.

Air servo cylinder apparatus and controlling method therefor

The invention includes a moving step of moving a piston to a target position by supplying and discharging compressed air to and from pressure chambers on opposite sides of the piston of a pressure cylinder by driving servo valves by a controller, a clamping step of allowing a pressure member at a tip end of a piston rod to touch a workpiece softly in this target position, and a pressing force applying step of pressing the workpiece with the pressure member in a required force.

A pressure cylinder is connected to an air pressure source through a servo valve, the servo valve is controlled as an on/off switching valve by a control section in an advancing working step of a piston rod, and at the time of backward stroke of the piston rod, an operation position of the piston rod is detected by a position detector to feedback a detection signal to the control section, the servo valve is controlled by the control section such that a deviation between the operation position and a preset stopping position is eliminated, the piston rod is stopped at an intermediate stopping position, and a state in which substantially the same pressures are supplied to pressure chambers formed on opposite sides of the piston is maintained.

An exciting coil is wound on a cylindrical yoke provided with a pair of pole teeth, a cylindrical permanent magnet where N pole and S pole are magnetized in a radial direction is disposed so as to be movable in a hollow portion of the yoke and the permanent magnet is coupled to a spool by a magnet holder, and a displacement sensor is disposed in a hollow portion of the permanent magnet so as to be positioned on a center axial line of the permanent magnet, so that the displacement of the permanent magnet is detected by the displacement sensor and the degree of opening of the spool is controlled by performing feedback of the displacement to a control portion.
