A gear position of a multi-position transmission, which shifts and drives a vehicle according to a turn motion of a shift drum, is detected by a plurality of sensors. An end portion of the shift drum is fitted with an end portion of an elongated shaft rotated coaxially with the shift drum. A first sensor which is fitted to other end portion of the elongated shaft detects a turn position of the elongated shaft. A second sensor which is located outside in a radial direction of the elongated shaft between the one end portion and the other end portion of the elongated shaft detects that the elongated shaft is located at a specified turn position. The first sensor and the second sensor are fitted from the outside of a transmission case of the multi-position transmission and are exposed to the outside of the transmission case.

Arrangement structure of gear position detecting sensor

An Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) controller executes RDM control (steering suppression control). However, the RDM controller does not execute RDM control in cases in which lane changing has been determined to be possible by a Lane Change (LC) determination section and a torque sensor has detected a steering input of a predetermined amount or greater.

Driving assistance device

A marker used to detect an axial deviation of a radio wave axis Ar of a radar unit is provided in front of the radar unit and outside a radar field of view range set based on a field of view angle &#x3b8; of the radar unit on a vehicle. A relative position between the radar unit and the marker is different between before and after an axial deviation of the radio wave axis Ar of the radar unit occurs. Thus, an axial deviation (an amount &#x394;&#x3b8; of axial deviation in an azimuth direction and an amount &#x394;&#x3b1; of axial deviation in an elevation angle direction) of the radio wave axis Ar of the radar unit can be detected by obtaining a difference in marker detection position before and after the axial deviation by the radar unit.

In a case where automatic lane change control is performed, a traveling lane and another lane as a lane change destination are displayed on a display unit based on lane change information, and a guide indication of a lane change starting position or a lane change finishing position is displayed on the displayed traveling lane or the displayed another lane.

Travel control device

A driving assistance system includes a deactivation controller that controls deactivation of Automatic Lane Change (ALC) control and a second driving assistance control (such as lane keeping control). During the ALC control, the deactivation controller deactivates the ALC central when, for example, a control amount by a driver of a steering wheel or the like has exceeded a first deactivation threshold value. During the second driving assistance control, the deactivation controller deactivates the second driving assistance control when, for example, the control amount has exceeded a second deactivation threshold value. The first deactivation threshold value and the second deactivation threshold value are set to differ from each other.

In a vehicle or a lane change timing determination method, when a distance from a vehicle to a nearby vehicle is outside of a first distance threshold value, lane changing is determined to be permitted. When the distance is within the first distance threshold value, lane changing is determined not to be permitted. After determining lane changing to be not permitted, lane changing not being permitted is switched to lane change being permitted when the nearby vehicle decelerates or accelerates to move further away from the vehicle than a second distance threshold value, even if the distance is still within the first distance threshold value.

Vehicle and lane change timing determination method

A travel control device includes an acquisition section configured to acquire, as surroundings in formation while a vehicle itself is traveling, at least information regarding a first other vehicle ahead in a traveling direction and information regarding lane markings of a first lane in which the vehicle itself is traveling. The travel control unit further includes a travel control section ECU configured to compute from the information acquired by the acquisition section a separation between the first other vehicle and the lane markings, and to control travel of the vehicle itself based on the separation.

When performing a switch between the lane change control and the lane keeping control, a switching controller of the driving control device sets a transition time-frame for performing the switch, and gradually switches between the lane change control and the lane keeping control during the transition time-frame.

Provided is a route guidance apparatus and a route guidance method which are capable of appropriately performing route guidance on a road where a plurality of lanes exist on one side. Route guidance apparatus and route guidance method

A lane change controller determines whether lane change is available or unavailable on the basis of a detection result of an obstacle by a radar and an obstacle recognizer in response to detection of a winker operation by an operation detection unit. A lane keep controller continues lane keep control if the operation detection unit detects the winker operation during the lane keep control and if the lane change controller determines that the lane change is unavailable.

A surrounding information acquisition section and a recognition unit (a surrounding detection unit) detect a first position (a change position) at which the type of a lane mark is switched. A lane change determination unit outputs a determination result whether lane change is available or unavailable on the basis of the type of the lane mark ahead of the first position to a notification mechanism (a notification unit) at a time point at which a vehicle has reached a predetermined range including the first position. The notification mechanism makes notification of the determination result.

Lane change assistance device

When an object detected by a lane marking/object detection section has been determined to be an object present in an adjacent lane change target lane or in the vicinity of the adjacent lane, lane change control is performed to reduce a predetermined maximum lateral acceleration Aymax' or maximum lateral velocity Vymax&#x2032; according to the lane width Lob of the adjacent lane.

Lane change control system

A torque damper for a power unit includes a rotating shaft on which the torque damper is mounted to reduce the axial size and weight. A torque damper for absorbing excessive torque occurring in a torque transmission path between an output shaft of a running clutch and an intermediate shaft includes an input cam member adapted to receive torque of the output shaft and an output cam member. A driven gear adapted to apply torque of the output shaft to the input cam member is provided on the input cam member rotatably supported by the intermediate shaft. In the torque damper, a torque-absorbing portion for absorbing excessive torque includes an input cam portion of the input cam member and an output cam portion of the output cam member and is disposed between a pair of bearings. One bearing is disposed between the input cam portion and the driven gear.
