The display device includes a light-emitting and light-receiving element and a color filter. The light-emitting and light-receiving element includes a light-emitting and light-receiving region having a function of emitting light of the first color and a function of receiving light of the second color. The color filter is positioned over the light-emitting and light-receiving element and has a function of transmitting the light of the first color and a function of blocking the light of the second color. The color filter includes an opening portion. The light-emitting and light-receiving region includes a portion positioned in the inside of the opening portion in the plan view.

The electronic device includes a pixel portion, a sensor portion, an authentication portion, and a housing. The pixel portion includes a display element and a light-receiving element. The pixel portion has a function of turning on the display element. The light-emitting and light-receiving unit is provided along a surface of the rim. The light-emitting and light-receiving unit includes a first light-emitting element and a first light-receiving element. The first light-emitting element has a function of emitting light with a first wavelength range. The first light-receiving element has a function of receiving the light with the first wavelength range and converting it into an electrical signal. The first light-emitting element and the first light-receiving element are arranged on the same plane. The light-emitting and light-receiving unit has a function of sequentially outputting received-light data to the control unit. The display device includes a first substrate, a light guide plate, a first light-emitting element, a second light-emitting element, and a light-receiving element. The first substrate and the light guide plate are provided to face each other. The first light-emitting element and the light-receiving element are provided between the first substrate and the light guide plate. The first light-emitting element has a function of emitting first light through the light guide plate. The second light-emitting element has a function of emitting second light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The light-receiving element has a function of receiving the second light and converting the second light into an electric signal. The first light includes visible light, and the second light includes infrared light.

A high-definition liquid crystal display device is provided. A liquid crystal display device with a high aperture ratio is provided. A liquid crystal display device with a high contrast ratio and display quality is provided. A liquid crystal display device capable of being driven at a low voltage is provided. The display device includes, between a pair of substrates, a pixel electrode, a first common electrode, a second common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer. The pixel electrode and the first common electrode are positioned between the liquid crystal layer and one of the substrates. The second common electrode is positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the other substrate. The same potential is supplied to the first common electrode and the second common electrode. The first common electrode includes a portion overlapping with the second common electrode between the display regions of two adjacent subpixels that exhibit different colors. At least one of the pixel electrode and the first common electrode includes a portion that does not overlap with the second common electrode in the display region of the subpixel.

Display device, module, and electronic device

A novel optical functional device that is highly convenient, useful, or reliable is provided. The optical functional device includes a light-emitting function, a photoelectric conversion function, a first electrode, a second electrode, and an optical functional layer. The light-emitting function converts electrical energy into first light, the first light has a first emission spectrum, and the first emission spectrum exhibits a maximum peak at a first wavelength. At a second wavelength, the intensity of the first emission spectrum is 80% of the maximum peak. The photoelectric conversion function has a spectral sensitivity characteristic; at a third wavelength, the spectral sensitivity characteristic has a maximum sensitivity within a range of 420 to 720 nm inclusive; and at a fourth wavelength, the sensitivity of the spectral sensitivity characteristic is 80% of the maximum sensitivity. The third wavelength is positioned closer to the second wavelength than to the first wavelength, and the fourth wavelength is positioned closer to the first wavelength than to the third wavelength.

Optical functional device, functional panel, display device, input/output device, and data processing device

A novel functional panel that is highly convenient, useful, or reliable is provided. The functional panel includes a first pixel and a second pixel, the first pixel comprises a first pixel circuit and a light-emitting element, the second pixel comprises a second pixel circuit and a photodiode. The first pixel circuit is configured to hold a first state on the basis of a control signal comprising a first level, a second state on the basis of a control signal comprising a second level, and a third state on the basis of an image signal. The light-emitting element does not perform light emission in the first state, is configured to perform light emission in the second state, and is configured to perform light emission on the basis of the image signal in the third state.

Functional panel, display device, input/output device, and data processing device

A novel electronic device is provided. An electronic device capable of executing various types of processing by simple operation is provided. An electronic device with a high security level is provided. The electronic device includes a control portion, a detection portion, and a memory portion. The detection portion has a function of detecting touch operation and a function of obtaining fingerprint data on a touching finger. The memory portion has a function of retaining fingerprint data on a plurality of finger registered in advance. The control portion has functions of comparing the fingerprint data on the touching finger obtained by the detection portion with the fingerprint data on the plurality of fingers when the detection portion detects touch operation, and executing processing corresponding to the fingerprint data on the touching finger or a combination of the touch operation and the fingerprint data on the touching finger when the fingerprint data on the touching finger matches any one piece of the fingerprint data on the plurality of fingers.

Electronic device and program

A display device having a biometric authentication function is provided. A highly convenient display device is provided. The display device includes a first substrate, a light guide plate, a plurality of first light-emitting elements, a second light-emitting element, and a plurality of light-receiving elements. The light guide plate includes a first portion having a first surface and a second portion having a second surface that connects with the first surface and has a different normal direction from the first surface. The first light-emitting elements and the light-receiving elements are provided between the first substrate and the light guide plate. The first light-emitting elements have a function of emitting first light through the light guide plate, and the second light-emitting element has a function of emitting second light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The light-receiving elements have a function of receiving the second light and converting the second light to an electric signal. The first light includes visible light, and the second light includes infrared light.

A display apparatus having a light detection function is provided. The display apparatus includes a first pixel and a second pixel. The first pixel includes a first subpixel and a second subpixel. The second pixel includes a third subpixel. The first subpixel is a subpixel that emits light with the shortest wavelength (e.g., blue light or light with a shorter wavelength than blue light) in subpixels included in the first pixel. The second subpixel has a function of receiving the light emitted by the first subpixel. The third subpixel is a subpixel that emits light with the shortest wavelength in subpixels included in the second pixel. The common electrode includes stripe regions extending in a direction intersecting with the signal line.

Liquid crystal display device comprising a pixel portion having a plurality of transistors

A display device including a circuit suitable for controlling a liquid crystal element is provided. The display device includes two memories in one pixel and a plurality of pixels arranged in the horizontal and vertical directions share a gate line. The display device includes a liquid crystal element and by writing charges to different polarity capacitors, power consumption in an inversion operation can be reduced. Furthermore, a liquid crystal element with a high threshold voltage can be suitably used and a wide range of voltages can be applied without impairing grayscale display characteristics in the display device. Furthermore, a voltage higher than or equal to an output voltage of a source driver can be applied to the liquid crystal element.

The photoelectric conversion device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a first unit. The first unit is located between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electron-donating material is a condensed aromatic compound, and the first electron-accepting material has a perylene skeleton and two or more alkyl groups. The alkyl groups each independently have 1 to 13 carbon atoms.
