To provide surface-modified fibers and reinforcing fibers that are capable of enhancing the adhesiveness to rubber, without the use of resorcinol and formaldehyde, and a molded article using the same. Surface-modified fibers include fibers, and a surface-modifying layer covering at least a part of a surface of the fibers, and have a solid surface zeta potential on a surface of the surface-modifying layer of −20.0 to 30.0 mV.

The invention provides a modified liquid diene polymer that allows a rubber composition to give a crosslinked product which contains a filler in a dispersed state ideal for attaining enhanced properties and which also exhibits excellent properties such as wet grip and abrasion resistance. The invention also provides a rubber composition including the modified liquid diene polymer, a crosslinked product thereof, and a tire which includes a portion including the composition or the crosslinked product. The modified liquid diene polymer is a product of modification, with a specific silane compound, of a liquid diene block copolymer including a polymer block (b′1) or (b″1) containing butadiene units and a polymer block (b′2) or (b″2). The modified liquid diene polymer has a functional group derived from the silane compound, and satisfies specific conditions.

The present invention provides a modified conjugated diene polymer that has excellent hydrophilicity and is useful for modification of polar polymers. [Object] The invention provides rubber compositions having excellent filler dispersibility, crosslinked products having excellent properties such as abrasion resistance, and tires that exhibit enhanced rolling resistance performance and attain simultaneous enhancements in steering stability and ice grip performance by virtue of using the compositions or the crosslinked products in portions of the tires. [Solution] The rubber composition includes 100 parts by mass of a solid rubber (A), 0.1 to 10 parts by mass of a modified liquid diene rubber (B) that is obtained by adding a modifying agent to an unmodified liquid diene rubber (B') and has functional groups derived from the modifying agent, and 20 to 150 parts by mass of a filler (C).
