An occupant leg restraining device includes a knee airbag that expands in front of legs of an occupant in a vehicle, a gas generator that inflates the knee airbag by ejecting gas, and a retainer that accommodates and holds the gas generator and the folded knee airbag. The retainer has outlets adjacent to both ends of the gas generator in a longitudinal direction of the gas generator that is accommodated in the retainer.

Occupant leg restraining device and retainer

An occupant leg part restraint apparatus including a cover cloth for preventing an air bag inflated and developed under a steering column (steering column cover) from interfering with an auxiliary key, in which the cover cloth can be rapidly projected to the upper side of the air bag. A key device () is installed on the right side face of the steering column cover (). The auxiliary key () is fitted in a suspended state to a key () inserted into the key device (). The air bag () is provided with a cover cloth () which is projected from the right side upper end of the air bag () upward and interposed between the air bag () and the key device () when the air bag () is inflated. The cover cloth () includes an extension part () extended laterally from the vertical intermediate part on the side of the cover cloth. The vertical intermediate part of the cover cloth () is connected to the upper end of the air bag () through the extension part ().

Occupant leg portion constraining apparatus

Deployment performance of an airbag may be improved by improving an air tightness of an leg airbag system that includes a knee airbag for restraining occupant's legs and a gas generator that generates a jet of gas to inflate the knee airbag. An end of the gas generator is connected to a gas generator ignition control cable and passes through an insertion opening. The insertion opening has an area smaller than a cross section area of the end of the gas generator.

Airbag system

An inflator securing structure for securing an inflator having substantially cylindrical shape to a retainer in an airbag system includes a fixed shaft having a substantially D-shaped cross section and formed at one end of the inflator along an axial direction of the inflator; and a locking structure forming a locking hole having a substantially D shape and formed in the retainer so that the locking hole is engaged with the fixed shaft. One of the fixed shaft and the locking hole has at least one groove, and other of the fixed shaft and the locking hole has at least one convex portion so as to engage with the groove.

Inflator securing structure and airbag system

A leg airbag system in which the deployment performance of an airbag can be improved by an improvement in air tightness includes a knee airbag for restraining occupant's legs and a gas generator that generates a jet of gas to inflate the knee airbag. A housing section communicates with the knee airbag and houses the gas generator therein. A slit, provided at the housing section, allows the gas generator to be inserted into the housing section. Covers are included that cover the slit from the exterior of the housing section

An occupant's leg restraint system includes an airbag to be inflated forward of legs of an occupant in a vehicle, a gas generator that generates gas to inflate the airbag, and at least one tether sewn to the airbag and located inside the airbag. A tether protection member is disposed between the gas generator and the tether in the airbag to protect the tether from the gas ejected from the gas generator.

Occupant's leg restraint system

A side airbag apparatus includes a side airbag having a plurality of partitioned chambers therein to be inflated and deployed in a space between a side wall portion of a body of a motor vehicle and an occupant seated on a seat disposed inside the body. An inflator has an approximately cylindrical shape and blows gas out for inflating and deploying the side airbag from one side in a longitudinal direction of the inflator. A cylindrical member is disposed in a manner so as to cover the one side in the longitudinal direction of the inflator and has a squeezing portion for restricting a flow path of the gas blown out from the inflator.

Side airbag apparatus, motor vehicle seat, and gas distributor of inflator

A driver leg restraint apparatus is disposed on a lower side of a steering column. The driver leg restraint apparatus includes an airbag upwardly inflatable in a vicinity of a lower surface of a steering column cover, and a protection cloth attached to the airbag for covering a top part of the airbag opposite to a car key device when the airbag is inflated. In the inflated condition, the protection cloth is positioned on the top part of the airbag to have a space between the protection cloth and the top part of the airbag.
