An image forming apparatus includes a main housing, a process unit, and a fixing device including a lever. The main housing comprises an interlock switch that allows power to be supplied to a heater of the fixing device in an on-state and shuts off power to the heater in an off-state. The lever includes a holding portion and a switch contacting portion contactable with the interlock switch. In a case where the fixing device is installed in the main housing and the lever is located at a first position, the switch contacting portion is in contact with the interlock switch to set the interlock switch to the on-state. In a case where the fixing device is installed in the main housing and the lever is located at a second position, the switch contacting portion is separated from the interlock switch to set the interlock switch to the off-state.

An image forming apparatus including a main body casing, a cover, a drum cartridge, a developing cartridge, an intermediate transfer belt and a movable cam. The movable cam is movable among a first position when the cover is in the open position, a second positon and a third position when the cover is in the closed position. In a case where the movable cam is in the first position, the photosensitive drum is in a first drum position spaced from the intermediate transfer belt, and the developing roller is in a first developing position spaced from the photosensitive drum. In a case where the movable cam is in the second position, the photosensitive drum is positioned toward the the intermediate transfer belt from the first drum position. In a case where the cam is in the third position, the developing roller is positioned toward the photosensitive drum from the first developing position.

An image forming apparatus, having a cartridge and a main body, is provided. The cartridge has a cartridge-side coupling to transmit a driving force to a drivable member in the cartridge. The cartridge is detachably attached to the main body. The main body includes a body-side coupling movable between a connecting position, at which the body-side coupling is connected with the cartridge-side coupling, and a separated position, at which the body-side coupling is separated from the cartridge-side coupling; a joint cam movable between a first position, at which the joint cam locates the body-side coupling at the connecting position, and a second position, at which the joint cam locates the body-side coupling at the separated position; and a rotator having a dent. The dent allows entry of an end portion of the joint cam there-into when the joint cam is located at the first position.

An image forming apparatus includes: a motor; a temperature detector; a conveyor; a sheet detector; and a controller configured to perform: (a) controlling a conveying speed of the sheet; (b) determining whether a paper jam has occurred; and (c) determining, when the paper jam has occurred, whether a torque shortage has occurred. The torque shortage is shortage of a torque occurring during conveyance of the sheet. When the torque shortage has occurred, and the paper jam is resolved and conveyance of the sheet is resumed, the controller performs in the (a) controlling: controlling, when an ambient temperature detected by the temperature detector is higher than a predetermined temperature, the conveying speed to become a first conveying speed; and controlling, when the ambient temperature is lower than or equal to the predetermined temperature, the conveying speed to become a second conveying speed slower than the first conveying speed.

An image forming apparatus including a main body casing, a cover, a drum cartridge, a developing cartridge, an intermediate transfer belt and a movable cam. An image forming apparatus, having a first developing roller, a second developing roller, a third developing roller, a fourth developing roller, a first photosensitive drum, a second photosensitive drum, a third photosensitive drum, a fourth photosensitive drum, a motor, a first output gear, a first gear train, and a second gear train, is provided. The first output gear is arranged coaxially with the motor and outputs a driving force from the motor. The first gear train includes a first intermediate gear meshing with the first output gear and transmits the driving force from the motor through the first output gear to the first, second, third, and fourth developing rollers. The second gear train includes a second intermediate gear meshing with the first output gear and transmits the driving force from the motor through the first output gear to the first, second, third, and fourth photosensitive drums.

An image forming apparatus, having a body, a fuser to fix an image on a recording medium by heat, an interface to accept a value for a first time, which is between an end of fixing by the fuser until entry into a low power-consuming condition for the heater, a fan, and a controller, is provided. The controller sets a second time being a predetermined length and subtract the second time from the first time to obtain a third time. If the third time is given a positive value, the controller continues driving the fan after the end of the fixing and throughout the third time, and inactivates the fan after the third time. If the third time is given a value smaller than or equal to zero, the controller inactivates the fan during the first time before the entry into the low power-consuming condition.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a holding roller which holds thereon developer attached on the image carrier, a transfer member which transfers a developer image on the image carrier to a transfer medium, a collection device which collects the developer on the holding roller via the image carrier, and a control device which executes a collection control of causing the developer held on the holding roller to move to the image carrier such that the collection device collects the developer via the image carrier. The control device applies to the holding roller a first discharge bias having a polarity same as the developer after the collection control starts until a first time elapses and thereafter applies to the holding roller a second discharge bias having a polarity same as the developer and having an absolute value larger than the first discharge bias.
