An optical laminate includes: a low-refractive index layer; a first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer arranged adjacent to the low-refractive index layer; and a second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer serving as one outermost layer. The low-refractive index layer has a porosity of 40 vol % or more; the first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a storage modulus of elasticity at 23° C. of from 1.0×10(Pa) to 1.0×10(Pa); the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a storage modulus of elasticity at 23° C. of 1.0×10(Pa) or less; a ratio of a thickness of the low-refractive index layer to a total thickness of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layers present in the optical laminate with pressure-sensitive adhesive layers on both surfaces is from 0.10% to 5.00%; and, when the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is arranged outside the first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is free from being arranged adjacent to the first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.

A backlight unit includes: a light source; a light guide plate arranged to face the light source, having an end surface that light from the light source enters; and an emitting surface from which the entered light is emitted; a reflective plate bonded to a back surface side of the light guide plate via a double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive film; and a casing having a front portion and a back portion, the casing configured to store the light source, the light guide plate, and the reflective plate. The backlight unit is configured so that light from the light source is free from entering a space between the low-refractive index layer and the reflective plate, or so that light that has entered the space between the low-refractive index layer and the reflective plate from a light source is free from being emitted from the emitting surface of the light guide plate.

A backlight unit includes: a light source; a light guide plate having an end surface that is arranged to face the light source, and that light from the light source enters, and an emitting surface from which the entered light is emitted; a casing having a front portion and a back portion, the casing being configured to store the light source and the light guide plate; and an optical pressure-sensitive adhesive film arranged between the front portion of the casing on a light source side and the light guide plate, the optical pressure-sensitive adhesive film being bonded to the light guide plate. The optical pressure-sensitive adhesive film includes a light-absorbing layer, a substrate, a low-refractive index layer, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer in the stated order from a front portion side of the casing.

There is provided an optical member that can achieve a backlight unit excellent in brightness uniformity. The optical member includes: a light guide plate having an end surface that light from a light source enters, an emitting surface from which the entered light is emitted, and a light extraction pattern arranged on a surface opposite to the emitting surface; and a reflective plate bonded to the light guide plate via a double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive film. An outer edge of the light guide plate is positioned outside an outer edge of the double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive film, and the outer edge of the double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive film is positioned outside an outer edge of the light extraction pattern.

Provided is a lighting apparatus having high light entrance efficiency with respect to a light guide plate, and being excellent in tint of light emitted from the light guide plate. The lighting apparatus of the present invention includes: an LED package; a light guide plate, which includes a main surface serving as a light emission surface, and a side surface serving as a light entrance surface, and which is arranged so that the side surface is opposed to the LED package; and a low-refractive index layer arranged between the LED package and the light guide plate.

There is provided an optical laminate with pressure-sensitive adhesive layers on both surfaces, which is suppressed damage from occurring to a low-refractive index layer in vacuum lamination while maintaining excellent characteristics of the low-refractive index layer. An optical laminate with pressure-sensitive adhesive layers on both surfaces according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a substrate; a low-retractive index layer formed on the substrate; a first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer arranged so as to be adjacent to the low-refractive index layer; and a second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer serving as one outermost layer. The low-refractive index layer has a porosity of 50% or more, the first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a storage modulus of elasticity of from 1.3×10(Pa) to 1.0×10(Pa), and the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a storage modulus of elasticity of 1.0×10(Pa) or less.

The present invention is intended to provide a laminated film including a void-provided layer achieving both a high proportion of void space and a high film strength. The laminated film of the present invention includes a void-provided layerand a resin film, the void-provided layerbeing stacked on the resin film. The laminated film is produced by a production method, including steps of forming a void-provided structure', which is a precursor of the void-provided layeron the resin film; and causing a crosslinking reaction in the precursor&#x2032; after the precursor forming step. The precursor&#x2032; contains a substance that generates a basic substance by light irradiation or heating, the basic substance is not generated in the precursor forming step, the basic substance is generated by light irradiation or heating in the crosslinking reaction step, and the crosslinking reaction step has multiple stages.

A film is provided with void spaces having a porous structure with less cracks and a high proportion of void space as well as having strength. The film with void spaces includes one kind or two or more kinds of structural units that form a structure with minute void spaces, wherein the structural units are chemically bonded through catalysis. For example, the abrasion resistance measured with BEMCOT&#xae; is in the range from 60% to 100%, and the folding endurance measured by the MIT test is 100 times or more. The film with void spaces can be produced by forming the precursor of the silicone porous body using sol containing pulverized products of a gelled silicon compound and then chemically bonding the pulverized products contained in the precursor of the silicone porous body. The chemical bond among the pulverized products is preferably a chemical crosslinking bond among the pulverized products.

The present invention aims to provide a low refractive index layer that can attain both a low refractive index and a high mechanical strength even when it has a large thickness. The low refractive index layer of the present invention is a low refractive index layer in the form of a void-containing layer, wherein hollow particles each having a void space inside are further contained in the void-containing layer, and the low refractive index layer has a refractive index of 1.25 or less.

The present invention provides a new member having a low refractive index as a substitute for an air layer, for example. The laminated film roll of the present invention includes a long laminated film roll including: an ultra-low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20 or less; and a resin film, wherein the ultra-low refractive index layer is stacked on the resin film. The method of forming the long laminated film roll of the present invention includes steps of: preparing a liquid containing microporous particles; coating a resin film with the liquid; and drying the liquid applied on the resin film, for example.
