Around a damaged area of a jacket of a flexible tube, a top coat layer whose adhesion to a polymer layer is weak is peeled off with an adhesive tape. The damaged area and its immediate surrounding area are sanded, and then wiped with ethanol for cleaning. A main agent and a hardening agent are heated and defoamed while being mixed to prepare a repair material. The repair material is applied to the damaged area and the immediate surrounding area. A heat shrink tube is opened along slits in an end portion and covers the flexible tube. The heat shrink tube is shrunk with hot air, pressing the repair material and making it flush with a surface of the jacket. The flexible tube is heated with an electric hot plate to harden the repair material. Thereafter, the heat shrink tube is peeled off from the flexible tube.

A method capable of obtaining a fluorescence image and a background image with a simple configuration. A color image is obtained, when excitation light is emitted on a subject, by imaging excitation light reflected from the subject and fluorescence emitted from the subject. Thereafter, an estimated spectral image that includes a background image representing the excitation light and a fluorescence image representing the fluorescence is generated by allocating a wavelength component of the excitation light and a wavelength component of the fluorescence included in the obtained color image to different primary color components.

Endoscope image processing method and apparatus, and endoscope system using the same

An endoscope apparatus used in combination with a near infrared light irradiation unit that irradiates near infrared light on a target irradiation section. White light and the infrared light are irradiated on a target observation area including the target irradiation section. The imaging means spectroscopically images a reflected light image of the target observation area, which is outputted as a spectral image signal. The storage section includes estimated matrix data. The IR image signal generation means generates an IR image signal constituted by an estimated value of reflected light intensity of the near infrared light by performing a matrix operation on the spectral image signal using the estimated matrix data and spectral matrix data of the near infrared light. The color image signal generation means generates a color image signal based on the spectral image signal and the IR image signal.

An endoscope spectral image system is provided and includes: an image recording apparatus for recording a color image provided by using a scope; and a processor apparatus, in which spectroscopic characteristic information including a spectroscopic characteristic of CCD is output from the processor apparatus to the image recording apparatus along with color image data. At the image recording apparatus, matrix data in correspondence with the spectroscopic characteristic information is selected to be read from a plurality of matrix data stored in a memory, matrix operation by the matrix data and color image data is carried out at a spectral image-forming circuit, and a spectral image formed by signals of arbitrarily selected wavelength regions is provided.

A probe apparatus in combination with an endoscope includes a confocal laser probe for in-vivo imaging. The probe is insertable through a forceps channel of an endoscope, and has an optical unit. There is a lens barrel. Plural lens optics are mounted in the lens barrel. The plural lens optics include first lens optics disposed on an object side, and opposed to an object within a body. An optically inactive surface is formed with the first lens optics, and has at least one portion protruding from a barrel end surface of the lens barrel on the object side. Preferably, a height difference of protruding the optically inactive surface from the barrel end surface is 10-500 microns. The portion of the optically inactive surface protruding from the barrel end surface is coated with adhesive agent, for adhesion of the first lens optics thereto.

CCD characteristics identification information including types of color filters of the CCD and spectral characteristics or scope characteristics information is stored in the ROM of the scope, a plurality of matrix data corresponding to characteristics identification information is stored in the memory of the processor unit, and matrix data corresponding to the obtained characteristics information is read from the memory, thereby forming an excellent spectral image by using data suitable for characteristics of the CCD or the scope.

An endoscope apparatus comprises: an endoscope comprising an imaging device that forms color image signals of a body to be observed; a Y/C signal processing circuit that forms brightness/color difference signals from a color image signal obtained by the imaging device; a storage portion that stores Y/C matrix data for forming a spectral image based on the brightness/color difference signals; and a Y/C spectral image forming circuit that conducts matrix calculation by the Y/C matrix data of the storage portion and the brightness/color difference signals output from the Y/C signal processing circuit and forms a spectral image of an arbitrarily selected wavelength range.

A spectral image obtainment unit obtains spectral image data by receiving reflection light in different wavelength bands, into which light reflected by a living body mucous membrane has been separated, at a light receiving unit by causing a ratio of a light receiving level in a short wavelength band with respect to a light receiving level in a long wavelength band to be greater than a ratio of spectral reflectance in the short wavelength band at the living body mucous membrane with respect to spectral reflectance in the long wavelength band thereat. A spectral image data operation unit performs a spectral image estimation operation by correcting the value of the spectral image data to that of spectral image data obtained by receiving light without causing the ratio to increase. Accordingly, a diagnostic spectral image of the living body mucous membrane is obtained in an electronic endoscopic apparatus.

In a lens system assembling method, the spacing between two mutually opposing lenses are set more accurately. The method includes the steps of: holding a first lens with a lens holding member, with the opposing lens face of the first lens being brought into close contact with a first receiving face of a spacing jig, and a lens receiving face of the lens holding member being brought into close contact with a second receiving face of the spacing jig; removing the spacing jig from the first lens and the lens holding member holding the first lens; and setting the spacing between the mutually opposing first and second lenses at a predetermined distance by abutting the second lens to the lens receiving face of the lens holding member such that the opposing lens face of the second lens is brought into close contact with the lens receiving face.

A light source device for a medical endoscope system comprises a lamp unit including a xenon lamp and a heat sink, with fins, certain ones of which form electrodes, a lamp housing into which the lamp unit is removably which is provided with first power electrodes and discharge electrodes of a static discharge circuit. These first power electrodes and discharge electrodes are biased in a direction of removal of the lamp unit. The first power electrodes are brought into contact with the heat sink electrodes and thrust back by the heat sink when the lamp unit is set in the lamp housing. The discharge electrodes are thrust back away from the discharge circuit by the heat sink on the way of insertion of the lamp unit into the lamp housing and allowed to return to electric coupling to the discharge circuit ground on the way of removal of the lamp unit from the lamp housing. A pivot door may be used and includes pin for blocking door closure if the lamp unit is not properly inserted and also includes a switch interlock for effecting power to the lamp unit. Rotational inserting/ejecting levers may also be used.

A connection socket for detachably connecting distal ends of different, thin and thick, endoscopes light guides to a single light source device includes a socket block with a cylindrical aperture accepting a distal end of a light guide in an axial direction and retainer plates pivotally mounted within the socket block around the aperture for holding and retaining a distal end of an inserted light guide, each retainer plate having a peripheral edge facing the aperture that includes first and second retaining edge sections. With a thin light guide, the retainer plates retain the distal end with the first retaining edge sections. When a thick light guide is inserted within the aperture, the retainer plates are pushed and turned by a distal edge of the thick light guide, bringing the second retaining edge sections into close contact with the distal end, retaining the distal end of the thick light guide.

The invention provides an endoscope having a scope that takes an image enlarged by driving a movable lens of an optical zoom mechanism by a CCD and displays an image of an object to be observed, wherein a multiplier multiplies RGB color signals by a coefficient set in view of light distribution of illumination light depending on focusing distances of the movable lens, thus eliminating uneven brightness resulting from varying light distribution depending on the focusing distances in enlargement photography. A red component cut filter for cutting a long wavelength side in a red band of the illumination light is provided in a light source unit to improve redness. Further, a coefficient for averaging a brightness signal for a predetermined number of pixels for each horizontal line is calculated, and this coefficient calculation may eliminate unevenness.
