In a method of producing a composite insulator having a core member, end fitting members fixed to both end portions of the core member, and an overcoat member including a sheath portion formed on an outer surface of the core member and shed members, the overcoat member and the end fitting member are connected by curing. Moreover, a clamping operation is performed or a packing member is used for preventing a flow of an overcoat forming material into a seal portion. In this manner, it is possible to improve a seal performance of a connection boundary between the end fitting member and the overcoat member.

Method of manufacturing composite insulator and packing member for use in same

A method for manufacturing a long size non-ceramic insulator is provided. The method includes the first step, in which a rubber housing having a plurality of trunks and skirts is formed around a long size core while molds are tightly assembled, and 1 second, in which the long size core is moved a length corresponding to the rubber housing while the molds are separated. Further according to a third step, the long size core is set in a position in the molds as the distal portion of the formed rubber housing is clamped by positioning jigs disposed in the molds while the molds are tightly assembled. While the rubber housing is clamped, the next continuous rubber housing is formed around the long size core, which will be connected to the last formed rubber housing.

A method for manufacturing a long size non-ceramic insulator is provided. A method of releasing an inner mold from a rubbery elastic molding having a corrugation in its inner longitudinal cavity and adapted suitably for, but not limited to, use in an electrical bushing or electrical insulator, which method comprises steps: forming a partial space connecting to a pressure source at an interface between the molding and the inner mold; supplying a pressure medium such as a gas or a liquid from the pressure source into the interface via said space to form a desired space between the molding and the inner mold over its entire zone and to expand the inner cavity of the molding; and releasing the inner mold from the molding.

Method of releasing an inner mold from a rubbery elastic molding

A synthetic resin insulator comprising a fiber-reinforced plastic rod, metal fittings which hold both ends of the fiber-reinforced plastic rod, and a seamless unitary overcoat which consists of an elastic insulating material. The overcoat covers that part of the surface of the fiber-reinforced plastic rod located between the metal fittings. The external surface of the overcoat is formed into a plurality of sheds, and the metal fittings have metal sleeves pressed onto the end portions of the overcoat, so that those end portions are sandwiched between the metal sleeves and the fiber reinforced plastic rod. The elongation of the outer surface of the overcoat resulting from assembly with the fiber-reinforced plastic rod and pressing of the sleeves is not higher than 2%.
