An aerial vehicle safety apparatus includes a safety mechanism, a drive mechanism, an ejection mechanism, and a control mechanism. The safety mechanism is used for securing safety of at least one of an aerial vehicle and an object outside the aerial vehicle. The drive mechanism includes at least one drive unit serving as a drive source of the safety mechanism. The ejection mechanism ejects the drive mechanism together with the safety mechanism. The control mechanism controls operations of the drive mechanism for the drive mechanism to drive the safety mechanism after the ejection mechanism starts ejection of the safety mechanism.

Aerial vehicle safety apparatus and aerial vehicle

An aerial vehicle safety apparatus includes an expandable object, an ejection apparatus, a bag-shaped member, and a gas generator. The expandable object is wound or folded in a non-expanded state and generates at least any of lift and buoyancy in an expanded state. The ejection apparatus is coupled to the expandable object by a coupling member and ejects the non-expanded expandable object into air. The bag-shaped member is provided in the expandable object and wound or folded together with or separately from the non-expanded expandable object, and expands the non-expanded expandable object by at least partially being inflated like a tube. The gas generator is provided in the expandable object and inflates the bag-shaped member by causing gas generated at the time of activation to flow into the bag-shaped member.

A gas generator includes a housing and a partition portion dividing a space in the housing into a combustion chamber accommodating a gas generating agent and a filter chamber accommodating a filter. The partition portion includes a first region which opens at the time of activation by being located to be opposed to a hollow portion of the filter and an annular second region which does not open even at the time of activation by being located to be opposed to a portion of an axial end surface of the filter except for the hollow portion. The second region is provided with a large-thickness portion constructed to be greater in thickness than the first region and opposed to an outer edge portion of the axial end surface of the filter, and the large-thickness portion is constructed to gradually be greater in thickness from an inner circumferential end portion toward an outer circumferential end portion.

Gas generator

A header assembly includes a header holding a plurality of electrode pins to be insulated from one another, an ignition element mounting capacitor having at the center of its outer circumferential surfaces external terminal electrodes for electrically connecting to an ignition element mounted on the capacitor, an IC having first, second, and third electrode pads to be electrically connected to end electrodes of the ignition element mounting capacitor and the external terminal electrodes and further having connection electrodes to be electrically connected to the electrode pins of the header for communication with the external. The IC is located on the header, and the ignition element mounting capacitor is located on the IC and electrically connected to the electrode pins through the connection electrodes provided on the IC. The invention provides a squib enabling a size to be minimal and quality to be improved, while maintaining high productivity, and hence provides the header assembly and the ignition element mounting capacitor as components of the squib, and further a gas generator with the squib installed therein for an air bag, and a gas generator having the squib installed therein for a seat belt pretensioner.

Disclosed is a heat-treated oxidizing agent for gas generating compositions which is obtained by mixing ammonium nitrate with an inorganic compound having as an element one or two or more metal atoms selected from the group consisting of Cu, Fe, Ni, Zn, Co, Mn and Ti and subjecting the mixture to heat treatment, and a gas generating composition containing the same. This invention provides a gas generating composition comprising ammonium nitrate, which can be safely produced, does not change in density with phase transition, and has sufficient combustibility.

Gas generating composition

A gas generator that eliminates work for welding-fixing a holder to a housing and subjecting the holder to an excess processing, which can be easily manufactured at low cost, and a method for manufacturing the gas generator. The gas generator includes an approximately short cylindrical housing including a bottomed member and a lid member, gas generants arranged in the housing to generate a high-temperature gas by combustion, a filter arranged in an inner circumference part of the housing so as to surround the gas generants in a diameter direction of the housing, an igniter energized from the outside to ignite, and a holder to which the igniter is fixed and that is fixed to the bottomed member so that the igniter is arranged coaxially with the housing. At least one of the holder and the bottomed member is clamped, and pressed and deformed in an axial direction of a hole so that the holder is fixed to the bottomed member.

Gas generator and method of manufacturing the same

A metal holder, and a method of producing the same, with electrode pins suitably used for a gas generator having a structure that can prevent electrode pins from being burst forth easily even when the gas generator is brought into action under high temperature. The metal holder with electrode pins includes a metal holder and at least two electrode pins for allowing passage of electrical current. Each electrode pin is larger in diameter at its head portion than at its terminal portion. Plastic members are arranged to surround a part of the respective electrode pins circumferentially. Holes for the respective electrode pins to pass through the holder are formed in the holder, and the electrode pins are fixed to the holes via the plastic members, each hole having a diameter-reduction portion at a part thereof.

The present invention provides a gas generant composition comprising a nitrogen-containing organic compound, an oxidizing agent and an additive, wherein a calorific value per mol of gas generated by the combustion of the gas generant is not more than 125 KJ. Also, the present invention provides a gas generator using the said gas generant composition of the present invention. In the gas generant composition that burns at a suitable combustion speed for the gas generator, a calorific value per mol of gas generated by the combustion of the gas generant is suppressed to a specific value as noted above, whereby reduction in size and weight of the gas generator is achieved.

Gas-generating agent composition and gas generator employing the same

A gas generating composition which contains a nitrogenous organic compound as a fuel component and generates, at a high gasification rate, a clean gas harmless to the human body. The composition of the present invention comprises a nitrogenous organic compound as a fuel component and ammonium perchlorate and the nitrate of an alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal as oxidizing agents, wherein where a quantity of nitrate required solely for forming an oxide of alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal that can stoichiometrically neutralize hydrogen chloride generated from ammonium perchlorate is taken as 1, a quantity of nitrate of said alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal exceeds 0.9.

A gas generator for actuating a vehicle occupant restraint device, including a first hollow body with a bottom and sides, gas generants filled densely in the first hollow body, an electric ignitor formed by housing igniting agents in a second hollow body with a bottom and sides, and closing the second hollow body with a plug, and a holder positioning the second hollow body in a center of the first hollow body and fixing the first hollow body while holding the plug of the electric ignitor. Particularly, a ratio of an empty space to a full volume of a space partitioned by an inner surface of the first hollow body, an outer surface of the second hollow body, and the holder is less than 20% by volume.

Gas generator for actuating vehicle passenger constrainer

An automatically ignitable enhancer agent composition comprising: (a) 5-aminotetrazole, (b) a metal powder, (c) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate and strontium nitrate, and (d) molybdenum trioxide, and having a heating value of 4500 J/g or more. Further, the above composition which has an ability to generate gases in an amount of 0.5 mol to 2.0 mol per 100 g of the composition is also disclosed.

The present invention provides a gas generating agent for an air bag including a fuel component of nitrogenous organic compound and an oxidizing agent as its major components, to which at least one metal nitride or metal carbide that is allowed to react with a metallic component contained in the fuel component or the oxidizing agent to form slag is added, thus providing the effects of: solving the slag collecting problem which stands in the way of commercially practicing the nitrogenous organic compound base fuels; promoting the size reduction of the gas generator through the full use of high rate of gasification of the nitrogenous organic compound base fuels; and providing a gas generating agent molded member which is strong and stable with age by improving heat resistant properties and formability of the nitrogenous organic compound base fuels which are poor compared with the metallic compound azide of an inorganic matter.
