A vehicle control device of embodiments includes a recognizer configured to recognize a surrounding status of a vehicle, a driving controller configured to control one or both of steering and acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle on the basis of the surrounding status recognized by the recognizer or map information, a storage configured to store images of the surroundings of the vehicle captured by a peripheral camera mounted on the vehicle; and a storage controller configured to control the storage. The driving controller causes the vehicle to travel in one of a plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode and a second driving mode in which a task imposed on an occupant of the vehicle is greater than that in the first driving mode. The driving controller causes the vehicle to travel by switching from the first driving mode to the second driving mode when an abnormality has occurred in one or both of the peripheral camera and the storage in the first driving mode, and continues the second driving mode when an abnormality has occurred in one or both of the peripheral camera and the storage in the second driving mode.

A vehicle control device includes a recognizer configured to recognize surrounding circumstances of a vehicle; a driving controller configured to control steering and acceleration/deceleration of the vehicle; and a mode determinator configured to determine any of a plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode and a second driving mode as a driving mode of the vehicle, in which tasks imposed on a driver in the second driving mode are less significant than in the first driving mode, the driving controller controls the vehicle in the second driving mode, and the driving mode is changed to the first driving mode when an abnormality including predetermined conditions has occurred regarding one or more cameras capturing an image of an area around the vehicle or an image captured by the one or more cameras.

A vehicle control system includes: a vehicle sensor configured to detect a vehicle state; a first control device connected to the vehicle sensor and provided with a first recording area; a first power supply device configured to supply electric power to the first control device; a second control device connected to the first control device and provided with a second recording area; and a second power supply device configured to supply electric power to the second control device. The first control device is configured to record vehicle data including the vehicle state in the first recording area at a prescribed timing and to transmit the vehicle data to the second control device on a prescribed cycle. The second control device is configured to record the vehicle data received from the first control device in the second recording area at a prescribed timing.

A vehicle control system includes a control device configured to execute automatic driving control of a vehicle; an image capturing device configured to capture a surrounding image of the vehicle; and a recording device configured to record the surrounding image. The control device includes: a function classifying unit configured to classify functions of the automatic driving control into a first automatic driving function and a second automatic driving function; a state determining unit configured to determine whether the recording device is in a recordable state; and a function restricting unit configured to permit use of the first automatic driving function in a case where the state determining unit determines that the recording device is in the recordable state, and to prohibit the use of the first automatic driving function in a case where the state determining unit determines that the recording device is not in the recordable state.
