A spark plug includes a tubular metal shell; an insulator including a locking portion locked onto the metal shell; and a cap disposed at a front end side of the metal shell, the cap having a plurality of orifices. The plurality of orifices include orifices with different cross-sectional areas. A sum of the number of one or more largest orifices and the number of one or more large orifices that have a cross-sectional area of larger than or equal to 90% of the one or more largest orifices is smaller than the number of orifices that are other than the one or more largest orifices and the one or more large orifices. A length of the front end portion in an axial direction between a front end of the insulator and a front end of the locking portion is smaller than or equal to 12 mm.

Spark plug

A spark plug includes: a center electrode; a ground electrode that is provided such that a gap for spark discharge is formed between the center electrode and the ground electrode; and a plug cover covering the center electrode and the ground electrode to form an auxiliary chamber. The plug cover is provided with plural through holes. A relationship of 80&#x3c;A/B&#x3c;5000 is satisfied, where a sphere has a center at a midpoint of a line connecting the center electrode and the ground electrode at a shortest distance on an axial line and contacts a point located closest from the center on each of inner open ends of the through holes. A mmis a volume of a region of the auxiliary chamber, which is present in the sphere, and B mmis an average area of the inner open ends of the through holes.

Spark plug with a plug cover for improving fuel economy

A spark plug having excellent ignitability including a rod-shaped center electrode; a ground electrode that includes a facing portion facing a front end portion of the center electrode and forms a discharge gap between the facing portion and the front end portion of the center electrode; an insulator; a metal shell; and a cover portion that covers, from a front end side of the spark plug, the front end portion of the center electrode and the facing portion of the ground electrode to form a pre-chamber and includes injection holes that are through holes.

A pressure sensor including: a cylindrical casing extending in an axial direction; a diaphragm joined to the distal end side of the casing, extending in a direction intersecting the axis of the casing and deforming in accordance with pressure received on the distal end side; and a sensor section disposed inside the casing and outputting an electric signal corresponding to the deformation of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is provided with a plate-shaped base part and three or more protruding parts protruding from the distal end side surface of the base part toward the distal end side and set apart from each other. The relationships 0.05&#x2264;H&#x2264;2.5T and 0.05&#x2264;(S/S)&#x2264;0.8 are satisfied, where T (thickness), H (length), S(area of base distal end surface) and S(total area of protruding distal end surfaces) are as defined herein.

Diaphragm suppressing pressure sensor

A spark plug wherein the occurrence of pre-ignition and misfires is suppressed. The spark plug includes a cover portion that covers a front end portion of a center electrode and a facing portion of a ground electrode from a front end side of the spark plug to form a pre-chamber space. The cover portion has injection holes that are through-holes. A total area A (mm) of inner peripheral surfaces of the injection holes and a thermal conductivity B (W/mK) of a material of the cover portion satisfy a formula (1): 10&#x3c;A&#xd7;B&#x3c;4000.

A spark plug wherein the occurrence of pre-ignition and misfires in the spark plug are suppressed. The spark plug includes a cover portion, that covers a front end portion of a center electrode and a facing portion of a ground electrode from a front end side of the spark plug to form a pre-chamber space. The cover portion has injection holes that are through-holes. A metal shell volume A (mm) of a portion of the metal shell on the front side with respect to a rear end of the pre-chamber space and a thermal conductivity B (W/mK) of the metal shell at the normal temperature satisfy a formula (1): 3.6&#x3c;A/B&#x3c;98.0. The metal shell volume A (mm) and a space volume C of the pre-chamber space satisfy a formula (2): 0.18&#x3c;C/A&#x3c;1.20.

A pressure sensor includes: a diaphragm joined to a front side of a housing via a joint portion; a sensor portion; a connection portion connecting the diaphragm to the sensor portion; and a heat receiving portion disposed at the front side of the diaphragm. When: a minimum value of an area of a minimum inclusion region which is a virtual region, which include a cross-section of a portion from the heat receiving portion to the diaphragm and of which an overall length of a contour become minimum on a cross-section perpendicular to the axial line, is defined as a connection area Sn; and an area of a region surrounded by the joint portion on a projection plane perpendicular to the axial line when the diaphragm and the heat receiving portion are projected onto the projection plane is defined as a diaphragm effective area Sd, (Sn/Sd)&#x2264;0.25 is satisfied.
