The purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a small optical integrator for increasing color mixing property and homogeneity. An optical integrator is provided with a light entrance surface and exit surface (), and side surfaces () that connect the entrance surface and the exit surface, and is internally filled with a light guide material having a refractive index. The light guide material contains scattering particles for scattering light that have a refractive index different from the refractive index of the light guide material. The light that has entered via the entrance surface propagates from the entrance surface side toward the exit surface while being scattered by the scattering particles in the light guide material, wherein part of the scattered light is guided to the exit surface by propagating while being confined, by internal reflection on the side surfaces, in the light detector.

Provided is a substrate with a lens, including: a substrate; a columnar member provided on one surface side of the substrate; and a lens member provided on the columnar member. While arbitrarily selecting the height of the lens, the lens is formed in a uniform and desired shape. Thus, the distance between the lens and another optical member can be reduced and the pitch of the lens can be reduced.

There also provided with an optical waveguide including: a substrate; a lower clad layer; a core patternwith a taper in thickness direction; and an upper clad layer, the lower clad layer, the core pattern, and the upper clad layer being sequentially laminated on the substrate, in which the lower clad layerhas a dummy part on the top. These optical waveguides can secure alignment tolerance when connected with an optical element.

According to a manufacturing method of an optical waveguide substrate including a core () and clads () () and provided with an optical axis conversion mirror () in the core and an alignment recess for the optical axis conversion mirror with respect to a light receiving and emitting element, the recess is obtained by obtaining an outline of the core by synthesizing at least an image captured by focusing a microscope () to a highest position () of the core in an optical axis conversion mirror portion and an image captured by focusing the microscope to a lowest position (), and by determining a position of the alignment recess in reference to a center of gravity of the outline, and according to an optical waveguide substrate obtained by this manufacturing method, it becomes possible to provide an optical waveguide substrate in which the optical axis conversion mirror in the optical waveguide substrate and the light receiving and emitting element are aligned with respect to each other at an extremely high degree of accuracy and a manufacturing method thereof.
