A group-browsing system for a plurality of clients each including a shared web browser when browsing non-secure parts of a web site. A server is linked to the shared web browser of each client and is configured to monitor the transmission of the web site URL request from the shared web browser of one client of the group and to direct the request to the shared web browser of other clients in the group. A gatekeeper module is configured to first mask the identity of each client's computer on the shared browser. This prevents the web site from retrieving any client's actual identifier. Second, the gatekeeper is also configured to create a same temporary identifier for each client when any client logs on to the web site so that the same web page is displayed for all the clients in the group. When browsing secure parts of a web site, a non-shared web browser is executed instead of using the shared web browser to avoid sharing sensitive or personal information.

A novel optical path switching system, architecture and technique wherein light beam data traffic is to be switched by MEMS mirrors between source and destination nodes, and test ports are used to set up optical paths even before the real data traffic is propagated, with a combination of an electrical mirror-sensing feedback loop for controlling coarse mirror positioning, and an optical path power-sensing feedback loop for controlling fine adjustments in the mirror position.

A method of shielding light from rows and columns of an array of pixels of a CMOS image sensor includes the steps of: providing a first layer of metal shielding above the rows and columns of the array; and providing a second layer of metal shielding above the first layer. The method further includes forming slots within each of the first and second layers of metal shielding, such that the slots of the first layer are misaligned with the slots of the second layer. A light shield for shielding columns and rows of an array of pixels in a CMOS image sensor includes a first metal layer located above the columns and rows of the array, and a second metal layer located above the first metal layer. Each of the first and second metal layers includes slots. The slots are formed such that the slots of the first layer are misaligned with the slots of the second layer.

Spatially offset, row interpolated image sensor includes a linear array sensor having a first row of longitudinally extending pixels with a first spatial periodicity and a second row of longitudinally extending pixels having a second spatial periodicity laterally adjacent the first row and longitudinally staggered with respect to the first row; and a read circuit for individually, selectively sampling pixels of the rows for producing a composite output which has a combined spatial periodicity which is shorter than either of the first and second spatial periodicities and has a number of samples equal to the combined samples of both the rows.
