A shut-in valve tool for use in a well has a tool body defining a flow path for the flow of well fluid from outside the tool through the tool body to another part of the well. The tool has an inlet port defined in the tool body through which well fluid must flow to enter the flow path. The tool has a sliding valve member located within the tool body and moveable between a first position in which the inlet port is open, and a second position in which the inlet port is blocked. The tool has a supply of compressed fluid and an actuating mechanism which uses the compressed fluid for driving the sliding valve member from the first position to the second position.

Downhole fast-acting shut-in valve system

A bridge plug tool for use in a well, comprising: a tool body (); a hollow mandrel () extending through the tool body, the mandrel having a removable plug () in an upper region () to prevent from of fluids through the mandrel, the plug comprising a plug locking member () that is axially movable between a first position in which it locks the plug inside the mandrel and a second position in which the plug is released from the mandrel and can be removed; a setting sleeve () positioned on the tool body; a packer module () located below the setting sleeve; an anchor module () located blow the packer module; and an end fitting located below the anchor module; wherein the mandrel extends through the sleeve, packer module and anchor module to the end fitting; and wherein the end fitting comprises a first part that is configured for engagement with the mandrel, and a second part that is releasably connected to the first part and moveable between a connected position in which the second part holds the first part in engagement with the mandrel such that the end fitting is secured to the mandrel, and a disconnected position in which second part moves relative to the first part so that the first part is free to disengage from the mandrel, such that when the mandrel is secured to the end fitting, the packer module and anchor module can be held in compression between the setting sleeve and the end fitting, and when the mandrel is released from the end fitting, any such compression is released.

Bridge plug tool

This invention relates to a junk catcher () releasably connected to a retrievable bridge plug () connectable to a setting tool () for joint deployment of bridge plug () and junk catcher () in a borehole () or a tubular in the borehole (). Setting tool () extends through a fishing neck (), a catcher tube (), a flanged section (), a valve chamber (), a closable opening () and a portion of a setting sleeve () of junk catcher (). Valve chamber () comprises a valve () arranged to close closable opening () after retrieval of setting tool () from junk catcher (). The junk catcher () is connected to bridge plug () by at least one shear bolt (). Bridge plug () comprises a plug fishing neck () facing junk catcher (), and bridge plug () comprises an equalizing channel () in a mandrel (). The equalizing channel () extends from a bull nose () of bridge plug (), and where junk catcher () is provided with a closing sleeve (), closing sleeve () is connected to bridge plug () by at least one shear bolt (), and closing sleeve () seals at least one equalizing port () in mandrel () when bridge plug () is set. A method for operating bridge plug () and junk catcher () assembly is also described.

Junk catcher and a method of operation of same

A bridge plug tool for use in a well, comprising: a tool body; a mandrel () extending through the tool body; a setting sleeve () positioned on the tool body; a packer module () located below the setting sleeve, the packer module having an expanded position in which its outer surface is expanded radially with respect to the tool body and a contracted position in which its outer surface is substantially the same as that of the tool body; and an anchor module () located below the packer module, the anchoring module comprising anchor elements moveable between an expanded position in which the anchor elements extend radially from the tool body and a contracted position in which the anchor elements are substantially aligned with the surface of the tool body; wherein the mandrel extends through the sleeve, packer module and anchor module; the mandrel and setting sleeve are relatively moveable between an axially extended position and an axially contracted position; and wherein the mandrel and setting sleeve engage the anchor module and packer module such that relative movement of the mandrel and setting sleeve between the axially extended and axially contracted positions correspondingly moves the anchor module and packer module between the respective contracted and expanded positions. The use of the sleeve and mandrel arrangement allows setting and release mechanisms to be protected from the external environment of the tool.

An anchor mechanism for use in a well including a housing with a plurality of openings evenly distributed along the circumference of the housing and each opening arranged to narrowly house a radially movably slip including first and second end portions, a gripping side facing a well wall, the gripping side being provided with a plurality of teeth, an underside facing the opposite direction, two side faces extending from the gripping side to the underside and to two end faces; the slip having, at its first and second end portions, with a first inclined face and a second inclined face substantially sloping from the end faces and towards the middle portion of the slip on the underside; the slip provided, on its end faces, with laterally projecting tongues having a longitudinal direction parallel to the inclined faces; the slip provided, on its two side faces, with guide portions exhibiting a longitudinal direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the slip and the guide portion complementarily fitting an inward-facing guide in the housing; the anchor mechanism provided with first and second axially movable slip cones being surrounded in a portion of the housing; the slip cones having inclined faces in their position of application arranged to rest against the inclined faces of the slip, the slip cones provided with a plurality of grooves, each groove being arranged to house one tongue, and the housing being constituted by a first housing half and a second housing half.

Anchor mechanism for use in a well

A sealing device for shutting down a pipe, comprising an expandable cylindrical sleeve (), which is designed with a conical interior, and is provided with radially through-going slots () extending in the sleeve's longitudinal direction from each of the sleeve's end surfaces (), with slots from opposite end surfaces being arranged between one another. A rod () extends through the sleeve (), where the rod () is provided with a conical portion with an outside adapted to the sleeve's conical inside, and where the rod's conical portion has a smallest diameter smaller than or equal to the sleeve's smallest inner diameter in its non-expanded form and a largest diameter equal to or larger than the sleeve's largest inner diameter in its expanded form. When inserting the sealing device, the rod () is passed in the sleeve's () longitudinal direction, thus causing the rod's conical portion to come into contact with and be pressed against the sleeve's inner surface, with the result that the sleeve is expanded and comes into contact with the pipe wall.
