A battery pack includes: a plurality of battery cells arranged into rows adjacent to each other, adjacent rows of battery cells being alternately shifted to front positions or rear positions in a row direction; busbars arranged to form a parallel group of battery cells by connecting a group of battery cells to each other in parallel, and connecting adjacent parallel groups to each other in series, the busbars including a body portion extending in a zigzag shape in a column direction and a first and second branch portion extending in the row direction from the body portion toward different parallel groups; and expansion pieces protruding from the body portion of the busbar to external positions outside the plurality of battery cells in the row direction or the column direction.

Battery pack

A battery pack, including a battery cell; and a case having a receiving space for the battery cell, the case including a frame member including an opening formed in a central portion thereof and having an inner surface facing the receiving space and an outer surface opposite the inner surface; a first cover on the frame member, the first cover including a flange portion supported on the inner surface of the frame member, a main body exposed through the opening of the frame member, and a connecting portion connecting the flange portion to the main body in a stepped manner; and a second cover coupled to the frame member, the battery cell being between the second cover and the frame member.

A secondary battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the secondary battery includes a battery cell including an electrode and a cap cover placed over the battery cell and having an opening that exposes the electrode. The secondary battery also includes a connection member placed over the cap cover and electrically connected to the electrode. The secondary battery further includes a coupling structure that couples the battery cell and the cap cover. The coupling structure includes a protrusion extending away from the cap cover toward the battery cell, an adhesive pocket formed around the protrusion, and a concave portion formed in the battery cell so as to receive the protrusion.

Secondary battery and secondary battery pack including the same

A secondary battery is disclosed. In one aspect, a secondary battery includes a battery cell including an electrode, a cap cover placed over the battery cell and having an opening that exposes the electrode and a connection member placed over the cap cover and electrically connected to the electrode. The secondary battery also includes a protrusion extending upwardly from the cap cover and contacting the connection member, wherein a gap is formed between the cap cover and the connection member.

A secondary battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the secondary battery includes a battery cell including an electrode, a cap cover placed over the battery cell and having an opening that exposes the electrode, and a connection member placed over the cap cover and electrically connected to the electrode. The battery also includes at least one guide accommodating the connection member, wherein the guide protrudes upwardly from the cap cover and extends in a length direction of the connection member.

A rechargeable battery pack includes a first rechargeable battery including a first electrode terminal and a first contact part that are on a first upper surface of the first rechargeable battery; a second rechargeable battery including a second electrode terminal and a second contact part that are on a second upper surface of the second rechargeable battery; a first coverlay connected to the first contact part; a second coverlay connected to the second electrode terminal; and a connection part connecting the first electrode terminal and the second contact part. The connection part includes a first part connected to the first electrode terminal and a second part connected to the second contact part. The first upper surface of the first rechargeable battery and the second upper surface of the second rechargeable battery face each other. The connection part is bent such that the first and second parts face each other.

Rechargeable battery pack

A battery pack includes a plurality of battery units. Each battery unit includes a can, an electrode assembly accommodated in the can and including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator between the first and second electrode plates, and a cap plate closing the can. The battery units are arranged side by side in a first direction. A protective circuit module is placed on the battery units and electrically connected to the battery units. An upper cover is placed on the protective circuit module; and a lower cover is positioned under the battery units and opposite the upper cover. The lower cover includes shock preventing portions protruding outward at both ends thereof.

Disclosed is a battery pack that makes it possible to decrease a lead time of an insulating tape attaching process, and re-attach an insulating member. The battery pack includes a plurality of battery cells, a protection circuit module that controls charging and discharging of the battery cells, a first connecting plate electrically connecting the battery cells to each other, a second connecting plate electrically connected to the first connecting plate, and bent from the first connecting plate; and an insulating member disposed between the battery cell and the first and second connecting plates. The insulating member includes a first region placed between neighboring ones of the battery cells, and a plurality of second regions that are bent from the first region and are placed on outer surfaces of the neighboring battery cells, respectively.

A rechargeable battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the battery includes first and second battery cells facing each other and a case comprising first and second insertion portions, into which the first and second battery cells are respectively inserted. The case also includes a circuit accommodator formed between the first and second insertion portions and accommodating a protection circuit configured to control charging and discharging operations of the first and second battery cells.

Rechargeable battery

A secondary battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the battery includes a bare cell having a substantially prismatic shape, a first terminal located in a first region of a first surface of the bare cell and a second terminal located in a second region of the first surface of the bare cell. The battery also includes a first insulation tape located between the bare cell and the first terminal, wherein the first insulation tape covers the first surface of the bare cell, and second and third surfaces of the bare cell extending in a direction that crosses the first surface of the bare cell. The battery also includes a second insulation tape located between the first insulation tape and the first terminal.

A secondary battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the battery includes first and second battery cells facing each other and a case comprising first and second cell accommodators respectively at least partially accommodating the first and second battery cells, and a circuit accommodator formed between the first and second cell accommodators and accommodating a protection circuit configured to control charging and discharging operations. The circuit accommodator has top and bottom surfaces opposing each other, and each of the first and second cell accommodators has top and bottom surfaces opposing each other. The top surface of the circuit accommodator has a downward step with respect to the top surfaces of the first and second cell accommodators.

A battery pack is disclosed. In one aspect, a battery pack includes a plurality of battery units arranged in a first direction, each battery unit including first and second side surfaces opposing each other and a third side surface crossing the first and second side surfaces. The battery pack also includes a lower cover placed on the third side surfaces, wherein the lower cover includes a bottom plate facing the third side surfaces, a plurality of first ribs extending from the bottom plate toward the first side surfaces, and a plurality of second ribs extending from the bottom plate toward the second side surfaces and separate from each other, wherein the first rib extends in the first direction so as to at least partially cover the first side surfaces.
