The present disclosure relates to a method of recovering a degenerated lithium battery cell, with the lithium battery cell being configured so that an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator interposed therebetween is impregnated with a non-aqueous electrolyte and embedded in a battery case, the method including: subjecting a lithium battery cell degenerated by 5% or more to a high temperature treatment for 1 to 6 hours at a temperature ranging from 60° C. to 100° C. in a fully discharged state.

The present invention relates to a method for treating Parkinson's disease. According to this method, a halorhodopsin protein, a polynucleotide encoding the halorhodopsin protein or a vector containing the polynucleotide above is introduced into ventrolateral thalamus (VL) or medial globus pallidus (GPm) neurons of a subject having Parkinson's disease. The VL neurons are then illuminated with green light or exposed to a T type Cachannel blocker to inhibit rebound firing of VL neurons. By inhibiting rebound firing of VL neurons, Parkinson's disease can be treated or prevented.

The present invention relates to a method for screening therapeutic drugs of schizophrenia using an animal model of the disease. More specifically, this invention relates to a screening method based on the phospholipase C &#x3b2;1 (PLC&#x3b2;1) knockout mouse as an animal model of schizophrenia with all the major symptoms of the human disease. This knockout mouse exhibits symptoms similar to human schizophrenia such as locomotor hyperactivity, impaired prepulse inhibition of the startle response, lack of barbering and nesting behaviors, socially subordinate status, impaired learning, and lack of type II theta rhythm which has been implicated in working memory. Thus, the knockout mouse of the present invention can be useful as an animal for screening therapeutic drugs against schizophrenia.
