A method, system, and medium are disclosed for managing calendar information associated with multiple users over a network. The calendar information may relate to scheduling, events or tasks, and is shared among users or devices. Flags may be stored in order to share and provide functionality to calendar information, such as generating calendar entries, permitting searches and coordinating calendar entries.

A wireless communication device is configured to visually prompt a user to initiate a text session, and to receive a text session request from the user including a called number. In response to the text session request, the device initiates the text session by placing a first call to a service node using a service node number, and transfers the called number to the service node over the first call. The service node then extends the text session by placing a second call to the called number. Once the text session is established, the device sends a first text message to the service node over the first call, and receives a second text message from the service node over the first call. The device then visually displays the second text message to the user.

A first base station wirelessly transmits media to a first communication device for a communication session. The first base station hands off the communication session to a second base station. The second base station wirelessly transmits the media to the first communication device for the communication session. In response to the hand-off, the second base station selects a second communication device based on the type of media and transmits a prompt to the first communication device to transfer the communication session to the second communication device. In response to a user instruction, the second base station transmits the media to the second communication device for the communication session.

In a wireless communication device, a geographic location system determines a geographic location of the wireless communication device. A power monitoring system determines battery power status for the wireless communication device. A transmit diversity control system determines a transmit diversity instruction for the geographic location. The transmit diversity control system processes the transmit diversity instruction and the battery power status to select a transmit diversity mode (on/off). The transmit diversity control system controls a plurality of power amplifiers to implement the selected transmit diversity mode.

Methods are provided for facilitating local communication between wireless devices at a femto cell without passing communication to a network infrastructure, routing data packets to devices connected to a femto cell, and eliminating a need to send data to a home agent when two devices are connected to the same femto cell. When mobile devices are in a femto cell zone, it is not necessary to send payload information to a core network including a packet data serving node and a home agent. A femto cell local breakout with a PPP proxy can be used to handle the payload information locally. The femto cell local breakout with PPP proxy stores the mobile devices and IP addresses. So, when one mobile device in the femto cell zone sends payload information to another mobile device, the femto cell routes the payload information to the other mobile device in the femto cell zone.

A method is provided in a network for initiating a communication service. Upon receiving an access request at a service node from a device to access a contact list, a contact list is provide to the device where the contact list has one or more contacts associated with contact information. The service node receives a selection request from the device where the selection request includes selecting one of the one or more contacts from the contact list. The service node then sends a calling instruction to the device wherein the calling instruction comprises initiating a communication session from the device using the contact information.

Method and system for initiating a communication session

A base station (BS) and method to reduce RF interference by a carrier. The BS includes a first power amplifier (PA) that emits a first carrier, a second PA that emits a second carrier, a processor, and data storage containing program instructions. The BS is operable in a first state in which the first PA is on and the second PA is off and a second state in which the first and second PAs are on. Execution of the instructions while the BS operates in the first state cause the processor to determine that the BS receives a mobile station communication and cause the BS to operate in the second state, and while the BS operates in the second state, cause the processor to determine that no mobile stations are registered as being authorized to be served by the BS and cause the BS to operate in the first state.
