The present disclosure relates to a mobile terminal having a single display unit consisting of a main region and an extended region, and a control method thereof. The present invention includes a display unit, a memory configured to store a set alarm time, and a controller configured to control an alarm to be outputted if a current hour becomes the set alarm time and automatically activate a first linked application by ending an output of the alarm when a first user input is applied during outputting the alarm.
