A battery management apparatus includes: a profile generating unit configured to obtain a battery profile representing a correspondence between voltage and capacity of a battery and generate a differential profile representing a correspondence between a differential voltage for the capacity of the battery and the capacity or a correspondence between a differential capacity for the voltage of the battery and the voltage based on the obtained battery profile; and a control unit configured to receive the generated differential profile from the profile generating unit, determine a target peak included in the received differential profile according to a rule corresponding to a type of the received differential profile, and determine a state of the battery based on a behavior change of the target peak with respect to a reference peak preset to correspond to the type of the received differential profile.

A battery management system includes a sensor to sense voltage and current of a battery, memory to store over-potential management information including reference peak and reference peak voltage values, and a controller to command constant-current charging using a maximum allowable C-rate to a charging circuit when the reference peak value is equal to or larger than a threshold peak value, in response to a charge request, determine a differential capacity curve indicating a correlation between the voltage and differential capacity of the battery within a range based on the sensed voltage and current during the charging, determine main peak and main peak voltage values indicating differential capacity and voltage of a peak of the differential capacity curve, respectively, and update the reference peak and reference peak voltage values to equal the main peak and main peak voltage values, when the main peak value is less than the threshold peak value.

An apparatus and method for diagnosing a state of a battery in various aspects based on a differential profile respectively obtained in a situation where the battery is charged and discharged. Since the state of the battery is diagnosed by considering both the first differential profile related to the charging of the battery and the second differential profile related to the discharging of the battery, there is an advantage of diagnosing the state of the battery more accurately.

An apparatus for determining a degradation state of a battery includes a sensing unit configured to output sensing information indicating a voltage and a current of the battery and a control unit. The control unit determines a degradation ratio of the battery and a measured Q-dV/dQ curve based on the sensing information. The measured Q-dV/dQ curve shows a relationship between a remaining capacity of the battery and a ratio of a change in voltage of the battery to a change in remaining capacity of the battery. The control unit detects a plurality of feature points from the measured Q-dV/dQ curve. The control unit determines a positive electrode degradation ratio, a negative electrode degradation ratio and a lithium ion loss ratio of the battery based on the degradation ratio, the plurality of feature points, a predetermined positive electrode Q-dV/dQ curve and a predetermined negative electrode Q-dV/dQ curve.

Apparatus and method for determining degradation state of battery, battery pack and electric vehicle

The present disclosure relates to a battery management apparatus and method, and more particularly, to a battery management apparatus and method using non-destructive resistance analysis for analyzing the change of resistance of a battery cell. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, even if the EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) analysis is not used, the resistance change rate of the battery cell may be calculated non-destructively using the QV curve and the Q-dV/dQ curve of the battery cell.

Battery management apparatus and method using non-destructive resistance analysis

A battery management apparatus is configured to diagnose a state of a battery cell based on a capacity-voltage differential profile. Specifically, the battery management apparatus diagnoses a state of the battery cell according to a change pattern of a peak associated with a positive electrode reaction area and a peak associated with an available lithium loss in the capacity-voltage differential profile. The state of the battery cell may be diagnosed in real time even while the battery cell is in operation. In addition, it is possible to independently diagnose whether the positive electrode reaction area of the battery cell is reduced and whether available lithium is lost.

The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for estimating a battery free capacity, and more particularly, an apparatus for estimating a free capacity of a half cell of a battery. According to the present disclosure, it is possible to accurately estimate a free capacity of a half cell without inserting a reference electrode by revising an entire SOC region of a half cell by using an inflection point detected based on SOC-voltage data of a full cell and a half cell of the battery, respectively, and then estimating SOC-voltage data based on a SOC difference between the entire SOC regions before and after the revision.

An apparatus for determining a differential voltage curve of a battery includes a constant current unit, a sensing unit outputting a sensing signal indicating a voltage and a current of the battery, and a control unit determining a control history indicating the voltage and a remaining capacity of the battery based on the sensing signal. The control unit outputs a first request message when the remaining capacity is outside of a first range of interest, and a second request message when the remaining capacity is within the first range of interest. Apparatus and method for determining differential voltage curve of battery and battery pack comprising the apparatus

A battery diagnostic device includes a sensing unit configured to measure a current and voltage of a battery, and a processor configured to estimate a SOC of the battery based on the measured current, select a plurality of SOCs from SOC-voltage data mapping the voltage and the estimated SOC with each other, divide a preset SOC region into a plurality of sub-regions based on sizes of the selected SOCs, calculate a region change value of each of the sub-regions based on the sizes of the sub-regions and a size of a preset reference region, diagnose whether at least one of an active material area, a depth of discharge and a depth of charge of the battery changes based on the calculated change values of sub-regions, and determine whether a mode of the battery is a normal mode or a failure mode based on the diagnosis.

Battery diagnostic device and method

An apparatus and method for determining electrode information of a battery including a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and a battery pack including the apparatus. The apparatus includes a sensing unit configured to measure a voltage and a current of the battery, and a processor. The processor generates a V-dQ/dV curve based on the voltage and the current of the battery. The V-dQ/dV curve indicates a relationship between V (the voltage of the battery) and dQ/dV (a ratio of an amount of change dQ of the remaining capacity to an amount of change dV of the voltage of the battery). The processor detects a plurality of feature points from the V-dQ/dV curve. The processor determines information associated with each of the first electrode and the second electrode as the electrode information based on the plurality of feature points.

Apparatus, method, battery pack and electrical system for determining electrode information of battery

A battery management apparatus, including: a sensing unit configured to generate battery information indicating a battery voltage and current; and a control unit configured to: determine a differential voltage curve based on a history of the battery information from the sensing unit during a sensing period while the battery is being charged with a first current rate current, the differential voltage curve indicating a relationship between a remaining capacity of the battery and a ratio of a voltage change amount of the battery to a remaining capacity change amount of the battery during the sensing period; detect feature points from the differential voltage curve; determine whether stabilization for an electrode material of the battery is required, based on a feature value of each of the feature points; and output a control signal to induce the battery to be discharged with a smaller second current rate current, when stabilization is required.
