An apparatus and a method for configuring an idle screen in a terminal is provided. The apparatus includes a state sensor for sensing an environmental state a memory for storing a plurality of environmental state information items, each including at least one environmental state information, and a plurality of terminal function items, each associated with a corresponding environmental state information item and comprising at least one terminal function and a controller for when a change in a current environmental state is sensed while performing a selected terminal function, determining an environmental state information item corresponding to a changed environmental state, and updating the selected terminal function in a terminal function item corresponding to the determined environmental state information item, and when there is a request for displaying an idle screen, determining an environmental state item corresponding to the current environmental state from the memory, extracting one or more terminal functions of the terminal function item corresponding to the environmental state information item, and configuring the idle screen using the extracted one or more terminal functions.

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The method includes: making a request for allowing multiple accesses for beam hopping for a predetermined operation time to a plurality of accessible base stations (BSs); receiving a response to the request from two or more BSs among the plurality of BSs and determining, according to a predetermined reference, beams above the reference among transmission beams of the two or more BSs as available beams; determining a beam hopping pattern based on the determined available beams and transmitting the determined hopping pattern to the two or more BSs; and forming reception beams based on the determined beam hopping pattern to receive signals.

In a method for operating a transmission node, a first private message encoding a portion of transmission data of a neighbor transmission node is received. Weight for canceling the first private message of the neighbor transmission node received in a intended reception node is determined. The first private message of the neighbor transmission node multiplied by the weight, a common message encoding a portion of data to be transmitted to the intended reception node, and a second private message encoding the rest of the data are transmitted.

An H.263/MPEG video encoder using DCT in a mobile communication terminal. The H.263/MPEG video encoder controls a quantization value using granularity analysis by motion estimation and efficiently controls bit rates. The H.263/MPEG video encoder performs DCT for an input image (N&#x2212;1), quantizes the input image to output the input image as a video stream, decodes the quantized signal by means of inverse quantization (IQ) and inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT), and performs motion estimation in comparison with a next input image (N). The H.263/MPEG video encoder includes a granularity analyzing section for analyzing granularity using a result of performing the motion estimation, a granularity control section for controlling a quantization value for the quantization according to an analysis result of the granularity analyzing section, and a frame rate control section for controlling a frame speed of an output of the video stream.

H.263/MPEG video encoder for efficiently controlling bit rates and method of controlling the same

Disclosed is a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) unit for encoding and decoding still images based on the energy of each block. The DWT unit includes an energy calculating section for calculating energy of an input image in unit of a block having a predetermined number of pixels, an image decomposing section for performing three-level decomposition of the image of the block by decomposing a band at which a low frequency component is distributed three times, and a coefficient substituting section for substituting 0 (zero) for bands at which a high frequency component is distributed among the three-level decomposed bands.

Discrete wavelet transform unit and method for adaptively encoding still image based on energy of each block

An MPEG-4 encoder utilizing an H.263 multimedia chip. The MPEG-4 encoder includes a DC (Direct Current) predictor for predicting a DC component of the image frame encoded by an H.263 standard upon receiving a prescribed MPEG-4 quantization value, and an MPEG-4 reconstruction image memory for converting the H.263 reconstruction image into an MPEG-4 reconstruction image, and storing the MPEG-4 reconstruction image. The MPEG-4 encoder removes spatial redundancy from source image data entered in frame units using a prescribed H.263 quantization value, predicts a DC component of an image frame having no spatial redundancy using a prescribed MPEG-4 quantization value, performs a VLC (Variable Length Coding) process on the image frame using the predicted DC component, and outputs the VLC-processed image frame in the form of an MPEG-4 bit stream. The MPEG-4 encoder reconstructs the image frame having no spatial redundancy, stores the reconstructed image frame, converts the reconstructed image frame into an MPEG-4 frame, stores the MPEG-4 frame, compares the stored image frame with a newly-entered next frame, and removes temporal redundancy according to a result of the comparison.
