Quality of Service (QoS) switching method and apparatus in a mobile communication system are provided. The method includes determining, based on a total resource usage for providing a plurality of QoSs, the QoS switching relating to level adjustment of the plurality of QoSs corresponding to one of downgrade, upgrade, and grade maintenance, and adjusting levels of the plurality of QoSs according to the determined QoS switching.

Apparatus and method for scheduling in wireless communication system

A transmitter apparatus and method for reducing PAPR in an OFDM system. The transmitter apparatus performs a masking process on an input signal block using a plurality of mask sequences in an OFDM system, and selects a specific sequence having a lowest PAPR among IFFT-processed results. The apparatus includes a single IFFT for performing an IFFT process on the received signal block, and generating an IFFT-processed sequence; a plurality of shift registers for storing individual bits of the IFFT-processed sequence, cyclically shifting them, and generating the cyclically-shifted bits; a plurality of multiplier groups for multiplying coefficients determined by corresponding mask sequences by the output bits of the shift registers; and a plurality of adders corresponding to the plurality of multiplier groups for adding the multiplied results of the multiplier groups, thereby reducing system complexity and production costs.

Apparatus and method for reducing peak-to-average power ratio in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system

There is provided a PTS (Partial Transmit Sequence) OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) scheme for reduction of a PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). In an OFDM transmitting apparatus for peak power reduction according to the present invention, an rotational sub-block partitioner partitions an input data block of length N into M, the number of sub-block, and distributes the partitioned data of each data block in M sub-blocks one by one rotationally. M IFFTs (Inverse Fast Fourier Transformers) perform N/M-point IFFT on N/M data assigned to each of the M sub-blocks and M coefficient multipliers multiply the N/M data output from each IFFT by a predetermined coefficient to give orthogonality to the frequency components of the N/M output data. A phase factor optimizer optimizes M phase factors to minimize a PAPR using the N/M output values of each coefficient multiplier. M multipliers multiply the optimized M phase factors by the outputs of the coefficient multipliers. A transmitter sums the outputs of the M multipliers on a symbol-to-symbol basis in the same positions and transmits the sum.
