A display device is provided. The display device according to an embodiment includes a display, a sensor configured to detect a distance between a user and the display device, a sub-processor configured to receive a detection signal from the sensor based on the user existing in a first area among a plurality of areas divided according to a distance from the display device, and a processor configured to, based on the sub-processor receiving the detection signal from the sensor in a state where the sensor and the sub-processor are activated, be activated by the sub-processor and update a content, and based on the user being determined to exist in a second area among the plurality of areas on a basis of a distance between the user and the display device, activate the display in an inactivation state and display the updated content through the activated display.

Display device and control method therefor

A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes a display panel, a chassis configured to support the display panel, a backlight unit configured to be installed on the chassis, and an electricity generator configured to use the backlight unit as a heat source to generate electricity. The electricity generator includes a heat transfer unit which contacts the backlight unit, at least one heat storage unit which contacts the heat transfer unit, and at least one thermoelectric device comprising a heat generator and a heat absorber contacting the heat transfer unit. The at least one thermoelectric device absorbs heat, which is generated from the backlight unit, through the heat transfer unit in response to the backlight unit being driven and absorbs heat from the at least one heat storage unit through the heat transfer unit in response to the backlight unit not being driven.

The user terminal apparatus including a first communicator configured to perform wireless communication with an external apparatus; a second communicator configured to perform bilateral wireless communication with the external apparatus; a storage configured to store information about a connection with an access point; and a controller configured to control the first communicator to transmit a control signal to the external apparatus, to initiate a pairing operation with the external apparatus, and in response to performing the pairing, to control the second communicator to transmit the information about the connection with the access point to the external apparatus.

Thus, it is possible to minimize and/or reduce glare due to optical reflectivity.

An energy harvesting apparatus includes a housing that includes an internal portion filled with dielectric liquid in a vacuum state, first and second electrode portions that are disposed to face each other in the housing and configured to be polarized with different polarities, a first layer that forms a path along the internal portion of the housing to allow the dielectric liquid and bubbles generated from the dielectric liquid to flow through the path, and a second layer configured to insulate the first and second electrode portions from the housing. The bubbles are generated from the dielectric liquid when thermal energy is applied to the housing. The first and second electrode portions may change a dielectric constant of the dielectric liquid when the bubbles move between the first and second electrode portions to generate current.

The user terminal includes a communicator configured to communicate with the display device, a main controller configured to control the user terminal, and a sub-controller configured to control the user terminal while the user terminal is in a sleep mode, wherein the sub-controller is configured to change a mode of the user terminal from the sleep mode to a standby mode in response to the communicator receiving environmental change detection information or user detection information from the display device while the user terminal is in the sleep mode.
