A vehicle comprises an object detection system, comprising: (A) a transmitter, (B) a receiver affixed, and (C) at least one processor configured to: (i) based on a characteristic of the environment in which the vehicle is currently located, determine an operating parameter of at least one of the transmitter and the receiver, (ii) cause the transmitter to output electromagnetic radiation with an intensity associated with the operating parameter of the transmitter, (iii) receive, from the receiver, a signal indicative of the electromagnetic radiation detected by the receiver, wherein the signal is based on the operating parameter of the receiver, (iv) determine that the transmission of the electromagnetic radiation between the transmitter and receiver is at least partially obstructed by an object based at least in part on the signal, and (v) control movement of a first and second door based at least in part on the electromagnetic radiation being obstructed.

Object detection in automotive applications

A vehicle may comprise an actuator system. The actuator system may comprise an indicia portion (e.g., a retroreflector, etc.), a masking element that exposes the indicia portion in a first state and covers the indicia portion in a second state, and a linkage coupling the masking element to an actuator. In the case of a bidirectional vehicle, operation of the actuator may be based at least in part on a determination of the vehicle changing a direction of travel. The actuator system may cause a first set of one or more actuator systems disposed on a first end of the vehicle to transition from a first state to a second state and/or cause a second set of one or more actuator systems disposed on a second end opposite the first end of the vehicle to transition from the second state to the first state.

Vehicle fascia comprising actuated reflectors

Techniques for managing the doors of a vehicle are discussed herein. In some examples, a vehicle may have one or more doors configured to open and close. The doors may include one or more sensor devices located along the inside edges of the doors. The sensor devices may be configured to capture sensor data of a region between the doors. In some instances, the vehicle may have a door frame that may define a door aperture when the vehicle doors are in a non-closed state. The door frame may include one or more sensor devices located along an edge portion of the door frame. Such sensor devices may capture sensor data of the region within the door aperture. In such instances, a second plane (e.g., defined by the door frame) may be interior to a first plane (e.g., defined by the doors) relative to the vehicle.

Multiplane object detection

A reflector unit may behave as a retroreflector to reflect light of a selected color. The reflector unit may comprise a first reflector having a first color, a second reflector having a second color, and a mask that either allows incoming light to reach the first reflector and not the second reflector or allows incoming light to reach the second reflector and not the first reflector. An active light unit may emit light of a particular color in response to receiving light. In this fashion, the active light unit may simulate the operation of a reflector. The reflector unit and the active light unit may operate on a bi-directional vehicle.

Vehicular lighting using passive and/or active optics

There is provided a method and system for vehicle security protection. The method comprises: determining, at a detector, a first sensor signal from a flex sensor in an exterior panel of a vehicle, wherein the flex sensor and detector are powered by a power supply of the vehicle, and wherein a magnitude of the first sensor signal is based on an amount of bending of the flex sensor; determining, at the detector, based on the first sensor signal, that the exterior panel of the vehicle is deformed; and outputting, from the detector, a first alert signal, wherein a first controller of the vehicle is configured to transition from a low-power state to a high-power state based at least in part on the first sensor signal.

Low impact detection techniques

A system for charging one or more batteries of a vehicle may include a charging box mounted to a vehicle to facilitate connection to a charge coupler from under the vehicle. The charge coupler may be configured to provide an electrical connection between an electrical power source and the charging box. A vehicle including the charging box may maneuver to a position above the charge coupler, after which electrical contacts of the charging box and the charge coupler may be brought into contact with one another. The charge coupler and/or the charging box may be configured to provide electrical communication between the electrical power source and the one or more batteries, so that the electrical power source may charge one or more of the batteries. Thereafter, the electrical contacts may be separated from one another, and the vehicle may maneuver away from the charge coupler.

Underbody charging of vehicle batteries

A method according to one embodiment may include supplying power to an LED array having at least a first string of LEDs and a second string of LEDs coupled in parallel, each of the strings includes at least two LEDs. The method of this embodiment may also include comparing a first feedback signal from the first string of LEDs and a second feedback signal from the second string of LEDs. The first feedback signal is proportional to current in said first string of LEDs and said second feedback signal is proportional to current in said second string of LEDs. The method of this embodiment may also include controlling a voltage drop of at least the first string of LEDs to adjust the current of the first string of LEDs relative to the second string of LEDs, based on, at least in part, the comparing of the first and second feedback signals. Of course, many alternatives, variations, and modifications are possible without departing from this embodiment.

Controller circuitry for light emitting diodes

A display system includes a touch screen and a driving circuit. The touch screen includes touch sensors and a light source. A converter of the driving circuit receives an input voltage and provides a first output voltage to the light source according to a driving signal. A controller of the driving circuit converts the first output voltage to a second output voltage to drive the touch sensors, compares a voltage feedback signal indicating whether the second output voltage reaches a desired voltage level with a current feedback signal indicating whether a current through the light source reaches a desired current level, selects a feedback signal from the voltage feedback signal and the current feedback signal according to the comparison, and generates the driving signal to adjust the first output voltage according to the selected feedback signal.

Display systems with touch screens

Embodiments of the invention provide a DC/DC converter. The DC/DC converter includes a transformer, a switch controller and a driver controller. The transformer has a primary winding coupled to a power source, a first secondary winding provides a first output voltage to a first load, and a second secondary winding provides a second output voltage to a second load. The switch controller is coupled to the primary winding and controls a first switch coupled to the primary winding to control input power to the primary winding and to regulate the first output voltage based on a power requirement of the first load. The driver controller is coupled to the second secondary winding and generates a pulse modulation signal to alternately turn on and turn off a second switch coupled to the second secondary winding to regulate the second output voltage based on a power requirement of the second load.

DC/DC converter with multiple outputs

Embodiments of the invention provided a DC/DC converter. The DC/DC converter includes a transformer, a first controller and a first switch. The transformer has a primary winding coupled to a power source, a first secondary winding for providing a first output voltage and a second secondary winding for providing a second output voltage. The first controller is coupled to the primary winding for controlling input power to the primary winding to regulate the first output voltage. The switch is coupled to the second secondary winding and for regulating the second output voltage. The first switch is controlled by a pulse modulation signal. A current flows through the second secondary winding if the pulse modulation signal is in the first state, and the current flowing through the second secondary winding remains cut-off if the pulse modulation signal is in the second state.

A power system includes a switching circuit, a resonant tank, a feedback circuit, and controller circuitry. The switching circuit including a first switch and a second switch provides a first AC signal. The resonant tank coupled to the switching circuit receives the first AC signal and generating a second AC signal for powering a load. The feedback circuit coupled to the load monitors an electrical condition of the load and provides a feedback signal. The controller circuitry coupled to the converter controls the switching circuit according to the feedback signal so as to control the power to the load. The controller circuitry is integrated in a first die. The first switch is integrated in a second die, and the second switch is integrated in a third die. The first die, said second die and said third die are mounted on and electrically interconnected to a platform compatible with through-hole technology. The platform and the resonant tank are further assembled on a printed circuit board.

Power systems with platform-based controllers

A driving circuit for powering a plurality of light-emitting diode (LED) light sources includes a power converter and a plurality of current balance controllers. The power converter receives an input voltage and provides a regulated voltage to the LED light sources. The current balance controllers coupled to the power converter control a plurality of currents through the LED light sources respectively. The current balance controllers receive a first reference signal indicative of a target average level and a second reference signal indicative of a maximum transient level, and regulate an average current of each of the currents to the target average level and a transient level of each of the currents within the maximum transient level.
