A D-mode GaN transistor synchronous rectifier of the present invention includes a power switching module, a peak detection module, and a gate driver module. The peak detection module stores energy when the negative end of the secondary side winding of the power converter is at a high voltage. The power switching module includes a first switch and a D-mode GaN HEMT as a second switch connected in series. The energy is provided to the module gate of the power switching module through the gate driver module to keep the first switch turned on. The gate driver module conducts the module gate and the module source when the positive end of the secondary side winding is at a low voltage, such that a clamp circuit pulls the gate-source voltage of the second switch below threshold and turns it off. The synchronous rectifier replaces conventional diode rectifier, having lower conduction loss and response ringing.

D-mode GaN transistor synchronous rectifier and power converter having the synchronous rectifier

An automatic powering device includes a dielectric layer, a driving layer, a plurality of electrodes and a droplet. The dielectric layer includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The driving layer faces toward the dielectric layer thereby forming a channel between the driving layer and the dielectric layer. The driving layer includes a plurality of hydrophilic surfaces facing toward the first surface and a plurality of hydrophobic surfaces facing toward the first surface. Each of the hydrophilic surfaces is staggered from each of the hydrophobic surfaces. The electrodes are disposed at the second surfaces. The electrodes each are electrically connected to and spaced from each other. The droplet is flowable within the channel. The droplet is affected by the hydrophilic surfaces and the hydrophobic surfaces so as to flow in the channel.

Energy generating device

The present disclosure describes the design and fabrication of a Terahertz (THz) beam steering device and a multifunctional patternless flat lens using electro-optic tunable fishnet materials (TFMM) to create a portable THz imaging system. The THz beam steering device and multifunctional patternless flat lens utilize a tunable resonant frequency of TFMM (with a negative refraction index) to achieve a maximum beam steering angle (field of view) and beam modulation. The portable THz scanning system is made by combining the TFMM beam steering device with a pair of continuous wave (CW) photomixer modules powered by two tunable CW lasers with built-in optical isolators, a fiber-optic beam combination and a multifunctional flat lens.

Terahertz imaging system using tunable fishnet metamaterials

A cell separation and culture device having a porous substrate; and a patterned carbon powder layer having a plurality of hollow regions, formed on an upper surface of the porous substrate by a forming manner; wherein the thickness of the patterned carbon powder layer is 0.04-0.08 mm. The cell separation and culture device is able to separate, detect or culture cells with various size and shape. The cell separation and culture device of present invention also simplifies the process of cell separation, detection and culture; therefore, it is accomplished within a very short time.

A magnetic bead-based digital microfluidic immunoanalysis device and a method thereof are provided, which includes a lower plate, an upper plate disposed above the lower plate, a separating structure therebetween and a magnet disposed on the upper plate or the lower plate. The lower plate includes a first electrode layer including a plurality of channel electrodes with different sizes. A droplet containing few magnetic beads is adapted to be disposed on the lower plate and corresponding to the channel electrodes. The magnet attracts the magnetic beads to approach to the smaller one of the channel electrodes though a magnetic force, and when a voltage is applied to the first electrode layer, the droplet is divided to a detection portion with the magnetic beads and a waste-liquid portion without the magnetic beads respectively corresponding to the smaller one and the larger one of the channel electrodes through a dual-direction electrowetting-on-dielectric force.

Magnetic bead-based digital microfluidic immunoanalysis device and method thereof

A portable fluorescence analysis system comprises a fluorescence strip, a fluorescence excitation device and a mobile Internet device. The fluorescence strip comprises a fluorescence probe configured for detecting an analyte within a specimen. The fluorescence excitation device comprises a sleeve and an excitation light source module. The fluorescence strip is arranged at the one open end of the sleeve. The excitation light source module is arranged at the same opening side of the sleeve and configured for providing an excitation light to excite the fluorescence probe to generate fluorescence. The mobile Internet device comprises an image capturing module and configured for capturing a fluorescence image of the fluorescence strip via the other opening of the sleeve and analyzing fluorescence intensity of the fluorescence image to determine the content of the analyte. The above-mentioned system can be applied to the point of care testing.

Fluorescence excitation device and portable fluorescence analysis system with the same

The present disclosure illustrates a platform system for in vitro cell co-cultivation with automatic trapping function. The platform system aims to develop a bio-chip applied in cell culture systems, and has several features. The first feature is that this co-cultivation platform can construct a micro environment suitable for culture of various cells. The second feature is dynamic perfusion. The microfluidic system is used to dynamically replace the culture medium, in order to maintain an appropriate environment for the growth of cells. The third feature is the automatic trapping. The cells to be cultured can be trapped in a suitable location according to the flow resistance, so that the damaged on the cell caused by manual operation can be minimized.

A gas sensing system includes an air intake hole which comprises a plurality of micro-flow channels, a replaceable sensor for receiving an air from the air intake hole and detecting the received air, and a processing unit coupled to the replaceable sensor and doing determination for the component of the air according to a detection result of the replaceable sensor. Wherein, the replaceable sensor includes a plurality of sensing chips arranged in an array and each sensing chip is coated with a sensing thin film separately to detect a different gas.

Fluorescence strip, fluorescence excitation device and portable fluorescence analysis system with the same

A medical ventilator capable of early detecting and recognizing types of pneumonia, a gas recognition chip, and a method for recognizing gas thereof are disclosed. The gas recognition chip of the medical ventilator comprises a sensor array, a sensor interface circuit, a stochastic neural network chip, a memory and a microcontroller. The sensor array receives a plurality of multiple types of gases to produce odor signals corresponding to each type of gas. The sensor interface circuit analyzes the odor signals to produce gas pattern signals corresponding to each type of gas. The stochastic neural network chip amplifies the differences between the gas pattern signals and performs dimensional reduction on the gas pattern signals to aid the analysis. The memory stores training data. The microcontroller performs a mixed gas recognizing algorithm to early detect and recognize the type of the pneumonia according to the gas training data.

The present invention provides a centrifugal particle separation and detection device, which can separate and detect particles according to the particle size. The centrifugal particle separate and detection device is practiced with a centrifuge to separate particles, and can be applied to cancer cell detection, blood lymphocyte isolation, tissue engineering, polynucleotide hybridization, microorganism separation and detection and fine chemical purification.

The present invention discloses a flexible 3D microprobe structure, which comprises at least one probe, a base and a hinge portion. The probe is connected to the base via the hinge portion. The probe forms a bend angle with respect to a normal of the base by attracting the probe through an electrostatic force to make the hinge portion bend with respect to the base, and thus to form a 3D structure having the bend angle. The probe, the base and the hinge portion are made of a flexible polymeric material to reduce the inflammation response of creatures. Further, a fixing element is used to enhance the structural strength of the flexible 3D microprobe structure.

Vertical aligned nano-scale diamond structure and process for fabricating the same

A micro cooling and power supply structure is proposed, which includes an emitter end chip having an emitting surface, a collector end chip having a collecting surface that corresponds to the emitting surface and is separated from the emitting surface, and a plurality of micro cantilever beam components formed on the emitting surface. Each micro cantilever beam component has a projecting part as an electron emitter. A distance between the projecting part and the collecting surface is sensed by a sensor component and maintained by an actuating component at an optimal value to produce an electron tunneling effect, so as to lessen the requirement for a planar chip surface and the low work function material. With the capacity of the micro cantilever beam components to position the tunneling distance, the frequency of electron tunneling to the collecting surface is increased, and excellent cooling and power supply efficiency are achieved.
