An iron-type golf club having selectively machined portions and attributes, including a machined sole portion and/or a machined leading edge portion. The machined portion(s) include continuous machining scallop lines having a scallop height and a step-over distance. The scallop height is 10-75% of a finished leading edge radius at a vertical midpoint demarcation plane, and the step-over distance is less than 150% of the finished leading edge radius at the vertical midpoint demarcation plane.

Golf club head and method of manufacture

An iron-type golf club and a method of creating the iron-type golf club including the steps of forming a club head blank having an external sacrificial region with an ESR thickness, an ESR sole portion, an ESR face portion, and an ESR leading edge portion. A finished club head is formed having a finished club head weight of less than 310 grams by machining off an ESR removed mass from at least a portion of the external sacrificial region including at least a portion of the ESR sole portion, a portion of the ESR face portion, and a portion of the ESR leading edge portion.

A finished club head is formed having a finished club head weight of less than 310 grams by machining off an ESR removed mass from at least a portion of the external sacrificial region including at least a portion of the ESR sole portion, a portion of the ESR face portion, and a portion of the ESR leading edge portion.

An adjustable golf club is disclosed having a hosel with a spherical section and positioning linkage that allows the face angle of the head to be changed without changing the lie angle or rotating the shaft around its axis. The hosel is fixed in place by tightening the spherical surface of a compression nut against the spherical section of the hosel and a receiving compression cup with matching spherical surface radiuses, along with a slotted rotation prevention section consisting of two flat surfaces, a threaded linkage engaging the lower hosel piece and anchored to a tube attached to the skirt of the head. The linkage is used to threadably position the angle of the hosel piece. The invention also provides a quick and easy way to remove and replace the hosel piece along with the shaft for additional customization of the club.

The present invention relates to a golf club head provided with a shell defining an inner cavity and having a face and a body. The face has a first or reinforcement portion with a first thickness and a second or remaining portion with a second thickness less than the first thickness. The reinforcement portion is located at the center of the face. In one embodiment, the exterior surface of the face defines at least one groove spaced from the center of the face.

A metal wood golf club head adapted for attachment to a shaft is disclosed, including a shell defining an inner cavity and further including a face. The face of the club head has at least two roll radii disposed adjacent each other and defined about an alignment line on the face that extends from the heel end to the toe end. The roll radius above the alignment line is smaller than the roll radius below the alignment line. The face may also include multiple bulge radii.

Disclosed is a metal wood club head with a body having a crown a sole, a skirt and a strike face. The sole has a first cavity located rearwards and towards the heel of the club head and a second cavity located rearwards towards the toe of the club head and approximately opposite of the first cavity. The two cavities define a relatively flat ridge or land area extending from the front of the sole rearwards which forms a beam-like stiffening structure. A backweight may be attached to the body portion to redistribute mass more rearwardly in the club head and directly behind the stiffening ridge. The redistribution of the mass rearwards increases the dynamic loft and moment of inertia of the club head and its position behind the stiffening ridge enhances energy transfer upon striking of a ball. The disclosed club head is thus provided with an increased moment of inertia to resist rotation and enhanced striking efficiency without an increase in club volume.
