According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus, such as a user equipment, configured to transmit information in a physical uplink shared channel direction using, selectably, a first waveform or a second waveform, the second waveform having lower peak to average power ratio than the first waveform, provide, to a network node controlling a cell in which the apparatus is attached, first and second power headroom information, and select to either continue using the first waveform on the physical uplink shared channel, or to switch to using the second waveform on the physical uplink shared channel.

Waveform management

A method and apparatus for a transmission mode with user equipment (UE) independent physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) scrambling for inter-cell and intra-cell PDSCH-to-PDSCH interference cancellation. A method may include configuring () a first identifier (e.g. first RNTI) for a first UE. The method may also include performing at least one of indicating () (e.g. semi-statically) a second identifier (e.g. PDSCH RNTI own) for the first UE, or indicating () (e.g. semi-statically) a third identifier (e.g. PDSCH RNTIJnt) for the first UE. The first identifier (e.g. first RNTI) is for at least one of operation of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) of the first UE, or operation of PDSCH of the first UE if the second identifier (e.g. PDSCH RNTI own) is not indicated to the first UE; the second identifier (e.g. PDSCH RNTI own) is for at least one of scrambling or descrambling PDSCH of the first UE; and the third identifier (e.g. PDSCH RNTIJnt) is for at least one of scrambling or descrambling a PDSCH of a second (e.g. interfering) UE. The transmission of the second UE may cause interference on the reception of a PDSCH at the first UE.

Transmission mode with user equipment independent physical downlink shared channel scrambling for inter-cell and intra-cell PDSCH-to-PDSCH interference cancellation

Methods, apparatuses, systems, and computer program products for transmitting/receiving scheduling assignment(s) (SAs) are provided. One method is directed to including a short version of a target ID (i.e., short ID) in a SA. The method may also include transmitting the SA including the short ID to one or more monitoring UE(s). The monitoring UE(s) may then compare the short ID to target ID(s) being monitored. The corresponding data from the SA may be decoded if there is a match between the short ID and any of the target ID(s).

Short identifiers for device-to-device (D2D) broadcast communications

An aspect of this invention is a definition of a set of reused channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources among transmission points, which can be lower power nodes, for intra-cell coordinated multi-point (CoMP) operation. Separate CSI-RS resources are defined for each transmission point for sporadic separate measurements to be made by user equipment. The sporadic measurements may be implemented with low additional overhead, and are used for generating potentially simplified CSI feedback to an evolved NodeB that enables adapting shared channel reuse and also potentially making related channel quality indicator (CQI) compensation.

Channel measurements supporting coordinated multi-point operation

According to an example embodiment of this application, a method may include by a processor, processing communication with a network element, the communication comprising one or more frames, wherein each frame comprises at least two subframes; receiving a signaling indicating definition of subframe groups; receiving a power control command for controlling a transmission power; and applying the power control command.

Apparatus and method for uplink power control for variable interference conditions

Configuration of various radio systems may have a number of possible benefits. For example, small cell configuration may be useful for interference mitigation. A method, in certain embodiments, can include determining a virtual subframe index for a cell. The method can also include communicating the virtual subframe index for the cell by communicating a time division duplex configuration and a relative subframe offset.

Various communication systems may benefit from an accurate detection method. The method may include determining correlation values between a first sequence of samples and at least one pre-defined sequence, detecting whether at least one first peak exists by comparing the correlation values with at least one first detection threshold. If the at least one first peak exists, the method may further include performing summing of at least a subset of the correlation values and detecting whether at least one second peak exists by comparing the summed correlation values with a second detection threshold.

Method and apparatus for detection of synchronization signals in wireless networks

Various communication systems may benefit from joint precoder and receiver designs for multi-user multiple-input and multiple-output. For example, machine-type communication in long term evolution communication systems may benefit from such designs. A method can include determining channel status information of a current connection. The method can also include indicating the channel status information to a transmitter. The method can further include receiving weight values for a first receiver filter, in response to the channel status information. The method can also include defining the first receiver filter based on the weight values. The method can further include determining effective channel status information of a current connection, and interference from other transmitters. The method can also include defining a second receiver filter based on the weight values, the effective channel status information of the current connection, and the interference.

Joint precoder and receiver design for MU-MIMO downlink

Channel reservation in time division duplex for devices in systems involving, for example user devices and access points, may be accomplished using channel reservation request messages, such as request-to-send (RTS) messages and channel reservation grant messages, such as clear-to-send (CTS) messages. A method for channel reservation may include preparing a frame including at least one channel reservation request message and at least one channel reservation grant message. The preparing may include multiplexing the at least one channel reservation request message and the at least one channel reservation grant message at least by frequency-division multiplexing. The method may also include transmitting the frame from a first node to a second node, wherein the channel reservation request message and the channel reservation grant message relate to communications between the first node and the second node.

Channel reservation in time division duplex wireless communication system

An apparatus includes one or more processor and one or more memories including computer program code. The one or more memories and the computer program code are configured to, with the one or more processors and in response to execution of the computer program code, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: accessing in an enhanced downlink control region of a downlink subframe a downlink control channel message corresponding to the apparatus, wherein the downlink control channel message corresponding to the apparatus occupies two or more physical resource blocks contiguous in one or both of time and frequency; and accessing or not accessing a portion specific to the apparatus of a physical downlink shared channel in the downlink subframe, depending in least in part on the determined downlink control channel message. DL control channel structure enhancement

According to an embodiment, a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium can provide an efficient mechanism to improve data rates of nodes suffering high interference without sacrificing performance of nodes that do not need interference-free channels to communicate. A node can receive two or more RTS packets and identify the RTS packet corresponding to its own cell, as well as RTS packets belonging to interferers. Based on the interference level estimated from the RTS packets, the node can decide if the channel needs to be interference-free for the intended transmission or if the current level of interference is acceptable. According to the embodiment, there can be two or more different types of CTS packets. A node can decide which type of CTS packet to transmit based on the information, signal level, interference level, or a combination therein, of at least two RTS channels, and based on measurements performed on these RTS channels, or other channels.
