A rotating electrical machine for a motor vehicle comprising a rotor () supplied with an excitation current (ie), a stator () comprising a polyphase winding and coupled to the rotor (), a thermal protection module () suitable for evaluating at least one temperature (T, T, T) in the machine and for comparing the temperature with an associated thermal protection threshold (Th), a control device () supplying the excitation current (ie) depending on an operation mode command (RQ) and the temperature comparison, so as to operate the rotating electrical machine () according to a mode of operation chosen from a nominal generator mode in which the machine is configured to deliver a first maximum power or at least one extended generator mode in which the machine is configured to deliver a second maximum power greater than said first maximum power.

Rotating electric machine for a motor vehicle

The method according to the invention calls upon a rotary electric machine () comprising a drive member () and a transmission member () of the belt or chain type, collaborating with the drive member and with the combustion engine () in order to start or restart the combustion engine, a tensioner () being provided to press against one strand () of the transmission member that extends between the rotary electric machine and the combustion engine. According to the invention, in a first stage, the rotary electric machine () supplies a predetermined reduced torque in the direction of starting for a predetermined duration in order to tension the transmission member () and then, in a second stage, the rotary electric machine () supplies a predetermined optimum torque for rapidly turning over the combustion engine () and causing it to start.

Method and device for starting or restarting thermal engine

A method of controlling a vehicle associated micro-hybrid system. The system includes a reversible rotary electrical machine that is connected to a thermal engine of a motor vehicle. The method includes: controlling a step of pre-fluxing of a rotor of the reversible rotary electrical machine when a control module receives an instruction to start the thermal engine via the reversible rotary electrical machine; measuring a speed of the rotor of the reversible rotary electrical machine; and, demanding stoppage of the pre-fluxing step when the speed of the rotor is greater than or equal to a predetermined speed threshold value. The method avoids the generation of overvoltages in an electrical distribution network formed by an onboard network of the vehicle and by an energy storage unit of the micro-hybrid system.
