A lubricating oil composition comprising:

Polyisobutylene succinimide and ethylene-propylene succinimide

An additive compositon comprising a graft and aminederivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene, said copolymer having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5,500 to 50,000 and having grafted thereon at least 1.8 molecules of a carboxylic acid acylating function per molecule of said copolymer and reacting said grafted copolymer with an amino alcohol compound selected from the group consisting of a 2-Anilinoalcohol, a (2-hydroxyalkyl) pyrridine, a 4-(2-hydroxyalkyl) morpholine, a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl) piperazine, a 1-(2-pyrrolidine and a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl) 2-pyrrolidine.

An additive compositon comprising a graft and aminederivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene, said copolymer having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5,500 to 50,000 and having grafted thereon at least 1.8 molecules of a carboxylic acid acylating function per molecule of said copolymer and reacting said grafted copolymer with an amino alcohol compound selected from the group consisting of a 2-Anilinoalcohol, a (2-hydroxyalkyl)pyrridine, a 4-(2-hydroxyalkyl) morpholine, a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl)piperazine, a 1-(2-pyrrolidine and a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl) 2-pyrrolidine.

Lubricating oil composition

A lubricating oil composition comprising a major portion of a lubricating oil and a minor amount of an additive. The additive is prepared by reacting a polyamine with an alkenyl succinic acid anhydride having a number average molecular weight of about 500 to about 10,000 at a temperature of 60.degree. C.-120.degree. C. to form mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or a mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide. 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid is then added to form an acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide. The acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide is acylated with an acylating compound selected from the group consisting of glycolic acid, oxalic acid, lactic acid, 2-hydroxymethyl-propionic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid at a temperature of about 150.degree. C. to about 185.degree. C., to form a mixed acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide and the mixed acylated mono-alkenyl succinimide, bis-alkenyl succinimide or mixture of mono- and bis-alkenyl succinimide is recovered.

Acylated mono and/or bis-succinimides lubricating oil additives

An additive composition comprising a graft and derivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene having an average molecular weight ranging from about 5,500 to 500,000, which has been reacted with at least one olefinic carboxylic acid acylating agent to form one or more acylating reaction intermediates characterized by having a carboxylic acid acylating function within their structure and reacting said reaction intermediate with a N-(2-aminoalkyl)imidizolidone to form said graft derivatized copolymer, and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.

An additive composition comprising a graft and amine-derivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene, the copolymer having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5,500 to about 50,000 and having grafted thereon at least 1.8 molecules of a carboxylic acid acylating function per molecule of the copolymer and reacting the grafted copolymer with an amine substituted phenothiazine to form the grafted and amine-derivatized copolymer, and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.

Dispersant additive and lubricating oil composition containing same

A lubricating oil composition having improved dispersancy. The dispersant being prepared by coupling two mono- and/or bis-alkenyl succinimides with an aldehyde and thioalkylphenol. The resulting coupled succinimide is then an acylated with an acylating agent to form an acylated Mannich thioalkylphenol coupled mono and/or bis-alkenyl succinimide.

A lubricating oil composition having improved dispersancy and antioxidancy. The dispersant being prepared by coupling mono- and/or bis-alkenyl succinimides with an aldehyde and hydroxyaromatic amine. Dispersant and antioxidant additive and lubricating oil composition
