A multilayer pouch with heat-shrinkable layer is described. The pouch comprises a first wall; a second wall; a perimeter comprising a first edge and a second edge opposing the first edge; and a product space positioned between the first wall, the second wall, and the perimeter. The pouch is configured to fully enclose the product space. The first wall comprises a first wall first layer having a machine direction shrinkage value of greater than 5% shrink at 90&#xb0; C., a first wall second layer having a machine direction Gurley stiffness force of at least 800 mgf and a machine direction shrinkage value at 90&#xb0; C. of less than the machine direction shrinkage value of the first wall first layer at 90&#xb0; C., a first wall pattern connection, and a first wall air inlet. The first wall first layer is interior the first wall second layer. Various embodiments of the pouch are also described.

Multilayer pouch with heat-shrinkable layer

The present invention provides flexible packaging webs comprising a non-oriented metallized sealant film characterized by a secant modulus of less than 120,000 psi and an elongation at break of greater than 150%, wherein the non-oriented metallized sealant film comprises (1) a thermoplastic base layer of a material selected from the group consisting of ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer, ethylene/norbornene copolymer, polyamide and blends thereof; (2) a metal coating deposited on the base layer and having an optical density of 1.0 to 3.0; and (3) a heat sealing layer. The packaging webs of the present invention each exhibit an oxygen gas transmission rate of between 0 to 10.0 cm/100 in/24 hours at 73&#xb0; F. (0 to 155 cm/m/24 hours at 23&#xb0; C.) and 0% relative humidity and a water vapor transmission rate of between 0 to 0.1 g/100 in/24 hours at 100&#xb0; F. (0 to 1.55 g/m/24 hours at 38&#xb0; C.) and 90% relative humidity. The sealant films are formed by a blown coextrusion method.

Barrier packaging webs having metallized non-oriented film

A non-oriented thermoformable packaging sheet having a rigid component layer comprising a blend of an aromatic polyester and a styrenic polymer, where the total amount of styrenic polymer present in the sheet relative to the total weight of the sheet is at least between 3.0% and 4.0% by weight. The packaging sheet has a thickness of at least 5 mil and a normalized impact strength of 0.16 ft*lbf/mil or less total energy as measured in accordance with ASTM D3763-08 test method.
