A receiver for casting molten material formed by the steps comprising forming a mixture comprising particulate ceramic powders and a binder; adding the mixture to a mold disposed to form board-like members and hardening the mixture; removing the hardened mixture from the mold; reducing the permeability of the board-like members, cementing the board-like members together to form a receiver and coating the receiver with release agents. Specifically, the receivers are used in the casting of high purity silicon for solar energy cells.

Castable receiver

Dentures, dental glazes or coatings, reconstructive jacket-crowns and inlays and restorative constructions over metal or preformed alumina substrates are fabricated from a dental porcelain frit prepared by a gel route.

Dental material

A microporous filler for dental composite resin restorations has been developed which gives greatly improved finishability, system non-toxicity and x-ray opacification. These fillers are prepared from frits obtained by the low temperature calcination of gelled inorganic 'polymers' followed by a pulsed high-heat treatment.

Method for preparing microporous glassy filler grains for dental resin

Addition of ammonium stabilized colloidal silica, borax and boric acid to the distilled water in which dental porcelain is fired greatly increases the firing range by reducing 'balling' or edge rounding, and flow deformation. Greatly increased machinability and indefinitely prolonged green-biscuit strength is also obtained by the use of the present additive without deleterious effects on the porcelain.
