A pump may generally include a frame including a reservoir. The reservoir stores a hydraulic fluid. The pump may also include a motor assembly supported by the frame and a pump assembly operably driven by the motor assembly. The pump assembly is in fluid communication with the reservoir and configured to dispense the hydraulic fluid out of the frame. The pump assembly includes a first piston and a second piston, wherein the first piston dispenses hydraulic fluid out of the frame between a first pressure and a second pressure greater than the first pressure, and the second piston dispenses hydraulic fluid out of the frame between the first pressure and a third pressure, the third pressure being greater than the second pressure.

A phasing system for varying a rotational relationship between a first rotary component and a second rotary component includes a gear hub and a cradle rotor. A spider rotor is arranged between the gear hub and the cradle rotor to selectively lock and unlock relative rotation between the gear hub and the cradle rotor. A torsion spring is coupled between the gear hub and the cradle rotor to apply a torque load between the gear hub and the cradle rotor. A planetary actuator is coupled to the gear hub and the spider rotor. The planetary actuator is operable between a steady-state mode, in which relative rotation between the gear hub and the cradle rotor is inhibited, and a phasing mode, in which the planetary actuator receives a rotary input at a predetermined magnitude to selectively provide a relative rotation between the gear hub and the cradle rotor.

Systems and methods for variable compression ratio phaser having a dual torsion spring arrangement

A cam phasing system is provided. In some non-limiting examples, the cam phasing system includes a planetary actuator having a first sun gear, a first set of planet gears meshed to and arranged circumferentially around the first sun gear, a first ring gear meshed with the first set of planet gears, and a second sun gear. The second sun gear is rotationally fixed. The planetary actuator further includes a second set of planet gears meshed to and arranged circumferentially around the second sun gear, a second ring gear meshed with the second set of planet gears, and an input shaft rotationally coupled to the first sun gear for rotation therewith. Rotation of the input shaft rotates the first ring gear relative to the second ring gear.

Systems and methods for controlled relative rotational motion

A phasing system is provided. A phase angle between the gear hub and the cradle rotor can be driven by a planetary actuator. In some non-limiting examples, an input shaft rotationally coupled between a rotary actuator for rotation therewith. Rotation of the input shaft can unlock relative rotation between the cradle rotor and the gear hub. In some non-limiting examples, the phasing system can include a gear hub and a cradle rotor, and a torsion spring arrange therebetween. The torsion spring can be configured to apply an internal torque load between the gear hub and the cradle rotor to offset an external torque load applied to the gear hub or the cradle rotor.

Systems and methods for variable compression ratio phaser

A system and method is provided for monitoring a hydraulic power system having at least one light emitter and a button. The method includes powering on the hydraulic power system, receiving an actuation at the button and detecting a release of the button after a first time interval, and entering a diagnostic state. The method further includes retrieving a code and displaying the code by turning on the emitter in a first pattern. In some embodiments, a system and method is provided for regulating a temperature of a hydraulic power system. In some embodiments, a system and method is provided for controlling operation of a hydraulic torque wrench.

Hydraulic pump

A control valve includes a valve body with a longitudinal bore into which a first port, a second port, and a workport communicate. A valve element is slideably received within the longitudinal bore and has a valve element bore extending inwardly from one end. An aperture extends through the valve element to provide a fluid path between the workport and selectively the first port and the second port in different positions of the valve element in the longitudinal bore. A slug of solid material is received within the valve element bore and is operatively connected to transfer a force to a stationary component of the control valve without the force being applied to the valve element. This arrangement results in force due to pressure in the longitudinal bore acting on only an annular surface at the one end of the valve element.

An electrohydraulic control valve includes a solenoid actuator that slides a valve element within a valve body to control fluid flow between a workport and each of a supply port and an exhaust port. The solenoid actuator has an armature that incorporates an element which digressively damps bidirectional motion of the armature. The element preferably damps the motion of the valve element according digressive damping velocity-force relationship.

An hydraulic valve has a body with an exterior surface, a longitudinal bore, and first and second fluid ports in communication with the bore wherein the first fluid port opens through the exterior surface. A band is wrapped in first and second layers around the exterior surface which layers extend over the opening of the first fluid port. The first layer has a plurality of apertures there through and overlaying the opening to provide a filter. The second layer has a flap that flexes in response to pressure to open and close the plurality of apertures thereby acting as a check valve. An actuator slides a spool within the bore thereby selectively connecting and disconnecting the first and second fluid ports.

A hydraulic valve has a valve body with a bore into which an inlet port, an outlet port, and a workport all open. A valve spool is slideably received within the bore. The valve spool has a first position that provides a path between the inlet port and the workport, and a second position that provides another path between the outlet port and the workport. Inlet port pressure tends to move the valve spool into the first position and outlet port pressure tends to move the valve spool into the second position. A linear actuator is coupled to the valve spool by a spring, thereby biasing the valve spool toward the first position. Another spring biases the valve spool toward the second position.

A system for detecting a characteristic of oil in a reservoir includes a sensor at least partially located in the reservoir. The sensor has a chamber for receiving oil from the reservoir, a detector member in the chamber, and an electromagnetic coil. Application of voltage across the electromagnetic coil moves the detector member and the presence and viscosity of oil in the chamber affects the rate of that movement. The electric current through the electromagnetic coil is measured and analyzed to determine an amount of time that the detector member took to move between two positions in the chamber. That amount of time is used to determine whether there is at least a predefined amount of oil in the reservoir and, if so, the viscosity of the oil.

A vibration damper includes a cylinder within which a piston is slidably received thereby defining compression and rebound chambers. The piston has a bore with a valve seat through which fluid flows between those chambers. A poppet selectively engages the valve seat and forms a pilot chamber an opposite side of the poppet from the valve seat. The greater pressure within the compression or rebound chambers is applied by a first logic arrangement to the pilot chamber and a pilot spool control a fluid flow between the pilot chamber and a pressure cavity in the piston body. A second logic arrangement connects the pressure cavity to either the compression and rebound chamber which has the lesser pressure. A solenoid that moves the pilot valve element to control pressure in the pilot chamber and thus the amount that the poppet moves to allow fluid flow through the piston.

A vibration damper piston includes a piston body with a bore from which first and second apertures respectively provide paths to first and second chambers of the vibration damper. A valve spool in the bore defines a pilot chamber and controls fluid flow between the first and second apertures. First and second springs bias the valve spool in opposing directions. A control orifice provides a continuous fluid path between the first chamber and the pilot chamber, and a variable orifice provides another fluid path between the second chamber and the pilot chamber. An actuator is operably connected to adjust the variable orifice in response to a control signal.

A solenoid operated valve has a valve body with a plurality of ports and a spool slidable within the valve body to interconnect the ports in different combinations. An actuator drives the spool into several operating positions. The actuator has a solenoid assembly with an aperture within which first and second tubular pole pieces are received. An armature is able to slide within the two pole pieces and a push member projects from the armature abutting the spool. The push member is secured to a rolling bearing which has a plurality of rolling elements that roll against the pole pieces to reduce resistance to movement of the armature.
