A package for containing tablets or like items is provided and has child-resistant and senior-friendly dispensing properties. The package includes an outer sleeve having opposed first and second wall panels. The first wall panel has a series of separate tear-away tabs. A separate card is contained within the sleeve and has a plurality of separate compartments and at least one reinforcement rib. A series of separate push-through chads is provided by the packaging and are directly opposed from and aligned with the tabs. The reinforcement rib provides a column support between the first and second wall panels and is of a height greater than that of the compartments. Each compartment is located directly between and aligned with one of the chads and one of the tabs, and the reinforcement rib provides a pre-determined amount of spacing between the tabs and the compartments.

Child-resistant, senior-friendly package

Dispensers for packaging solid unit dosage forms, e.g., tablets, are described herein, the dispensers employing a deformable elastomeric wiper seal between a cover and a base. The cover is linearly or rotatably slidable relative to the base to seal and/or expose the compartments of the base.

Pill dispenser

A carded package includes a front card bonded to a rear card with a blister card captured therebetween. The blister card has upstanding blister compartments projecting through openings of the front card. The rear card extends over an opposite face of the blister card and is a laminate including a tear-resistant polymeric layer bonded to a paperboard layer. The polymeric layer extends adjacent the blister card and the paperboard layer of the laminate extends remote from the blister card forming an exposed surface of the rear card. The rear card includes perforations aligned behind the blister compartments. The perforations include a first set of perforations cut entirely through the paperboard and polymeric layers and a second set of perforations cut into the paperboard layer and not into or entirely through the polymeric layer. A method of assembling a carded package is also disclosed.

Child-resistant carded blister package and method of manufucture

A package for storing and dispensing tablets includes a blister card having blister compartments and a hollow plastic sleeve providing a protective housing for the blister card when the blister card is in a storage position within the sleeve. The sleeve includes a pair of latches that extend toward the blister card, and the blister card includes a pair of latch-catchers for cooperatively engaging and catching the latches when the blister card is in a storage position to automatically lock the blister card in the storage position within the sleeve when the blister card is slid to the storage position. The sleeve also includes a deactivator positionable between a first position in which the blister card is permitted to automatically lock to the sleeve when the blister card is slid to the storage position and a second position for preventing the blister card from becoming locked to the sleeve.

Child-resistant, senior friendly package having a deactivatable locking mechanism

A package for containing tablets or like separate dispensable items is provided having so-called child-resistant and senior-friendly storage and dispensing properties. An elongate outer sleeve houses a separate blister card carrying tablets or like items. The card slides into the sleeve to a storage position in which the card is housed within the outer sleeve and slides in the reverse direction to a dispensing position in which the card at least partially extends from the open end of the sleeve. The sleeve includes an internal locking restriction secured to a wall thereof, and the card includes a tail end having an integral latch. The locking restriction and latch cooperate to form a locking engagement thereby locking the card within the sleeve when the card is in the storage position. The sleeve includes visually defined squeeze locations on opposite side edges thereof that correspond to a location of the internal locking restriction. The locking engagement of the latch to the internal locking mechanism is released when the outer sleeve is squeezed at the visually defined squeeze locations. The construction of the outer sleeve from a paperboard blank, the construction of a blister card having a latch, and a method of assembling the above referenced package are also disclosed.

A package is provided that is able to contain tablets or like separate dispensable items in a manner exhibiting child-resistant and senior-friendly dispensing properties. The package includes a card, such as a blister card, and a protective hollow sleeve. The card has a base strip on which a plurality of spaced-apart compartments are provided for holding the tablets or like items, and the sleeve has an opposed pair of side edges extending between opposite ends with at least one of the ends being a dispensing end of the package. The sleeve provides a protective housing for the card when the card is in a storage position within the sleeve, and the card is slidable relative to the sleeve between the storage position and a dispensing position in which the card extends at least partially outside the sleeve to expose at least one of the compartments. The card has a pair of locking tabs extending laterally from opposite sides of the card, and the side edges of the sleeve cooperatively engage the locking tabs to lock the card in the storage position when the card is slid within the sleeve to the storage position.

A child-resistant and senior-friendly package comprising one or more blister cards housed within a hollow molded plastic sleeve is provided. The sleeve is assembled from a pair of identical molded plastic body sections. Each body section has a latch and an unlocking tab and the blister card has a latch-catcher for cooperating with the latch to automatically lock the blister card in a storage position within the sleeve. The sleeve has a pair of opposite spaced-apart tabs in the side edges thereof that must be simultaneously pressed to unlatch the latches from the latch-catchers to permit the blister card to be slid from the storage position to a dispensing position. When pressed, the tabs flex the blister card off adjacent latches. An embodiment including a pair of separate blister cards is provided in which the blister cards are dispensed through opposite dispensing ends of the sleeve.

Child-resistant, senior-friendly unit dose container

A child-resistant and senior-friendly carded package for storing and dispensing tablets and like items is provided. The carded package assembly has a integral pair of opposed flaps. One flap carries the tablets or like items, and the other provides a booklet-style cover foldable between a position covering the tablets or like items and a position exposing the tablets or like items. The carded package is made from a first card bonded to a separate second card with a blister card captured therebetween. The first card has a flap including at least three panels folded together with each of the at least three panels including cut out openings or perforations defining punch outs. The second card has a flap having cut out openings. The blister card is sandwiched between the at least three panel flap of the first card and the flap of the second card having openings. A method of assembling the package is also provided.

Child-resistant, senior friendly carded package and method of assembly

A child-resistant and senior-friendly unit dose package has a hollow container body containing a separate tray carrying a plurality of tablets or like items for being dispensed from the container body. The container body has an end with an opening, and the tray can be slid to a retracted position in which the tray is located within the container body and a dispensing position in which a proximal end part of the tray extends through the opening of the container body. The package includes a separate cap removably securable to the container body to seal the opening and prevent access to the trays. The container body can be positioned in a tray re-loading position that permits a spent tray to be removed from the container body and replaced with a new tray. Thus, the container body is reusable.
