Techniques are described for video redaction. In one aspect, techniques include receiving a video for redaction; analyzing the video to generate an appearance model for the video, providing a user interface (UI) allowing a user to modify the appearance model, and responsive to a user selecting an object from the appearance model, extending and completing a trajectory of the selected object with enhanced marking based on the user input.

Techniques are disclosed for rendering geographic information system (GIS) data. A server component responding to a request for GIS data for a given area combines contiguous elements that share the same dynamic characteristics. For example, a map server may combine the polylines of contiguous road segments sharing the same current speed/congestion conditions. Doing so may greatly reduce the number of individual polylines that are sent to a client for rendering.

An extensible Object-Oriented (OO) framework in an object-oriented programming system defines objects and classes used to correspond to and track a collection document. The collection document can be an accounts receivable (the debt is to be received) or an accounts payable (the debt is to be paid) collection document. A collection document is an unconditional order in writing in which a debtor promises to pay a debt to a bearer in exchange for at least one benefit that has been or will be received by the debtor. The OO framework defines a collection document object that corresponds to and tracks a collection document through its many states until the collection document finally ends in an ending state. Even then, the collection document object may be retained (e.g., in a persistent or frozen state) for future reference. Each of the states of the collection document object corresponds to one of the states of the collection document.

In an object oriented computer system, an object oriented mechanism and method defines a common interface to maintain elements on a collection while providing the capability of using virtually any suitable object as a key to the collection. A programmer defines an interface on a collection that includes suitable object methods for adding, removing, and replacing elements of the collection. The constraints that determine whether elements may be added, removed, or replaced is encapsulated in a policy that is defined by the programmer. The programmer identifies one or more keys, which may include any suitable object in the object oriented system. A maintainer class provides a client interface for maintaining elements on the collection according to the defined policy and according to the keys defined by the programmer. The present invention recognizes the common characteristics that exist in maintaining elements on a keyed collection, and provide predetermined classes and class relationships that provide support for maintaining any collection using any key that a programmer may define.

An object oriented framework provides a set of objects that perform computer system server functions and that permit a framework user to add extensions for defining a Server Process category of objects that perform service processes for the network and exchange implicit data with remote processes of the network, and also define an Implicit Data Handler Registry (IDHR) class of objects that receive registration information from Provider objects of the Server Process category. Each Provider object of a Server Process registers with the IDHR of its local node if the service process produces implicit data for use by remote processes that request service, such that the IDHR object requests implicit data from a registered Provider in response to remote method requests to network remote processes, receives implicit data from remote processes and passes the data to registered Provider objects, requests implicit data from registered Provider objects for reply to requests from remote processes, and provides Provider objects with implicit reply data received back from remote nodes from whom service was requested. In this way, implicit data handling is controlled through registration with the IDHR objects and is transparent to the Server Process objects.

According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a method and apparatus for facilitating communications between client objects and server objects in a distributed object system is provided. The method and apparatus provide a distributed thread that associates dedicated service threads with a distributed thread identification for each transaction. By associating a dedicated service thread with a distributed thread identification it can be assured that all portions of a transaction are performed by the same thread. Thus, the present invention assures consistent thread allocation in a distributed system.

An apparatus and method for formatting a specified group of related web pages into a single web page allows a user to define a number of selected pages and associated relation criteria for each selected page. A formatting mechanism collects the URLs for the selected pages and those related pages based on the relation criteria and stores the URLs in a URL container. The formatting mechanism further invokes each web page associated to the URLs contained in the URL container and generates a conglomerate page. The conglomerate web page may include data insert into or referenced in one or more of the selected pages. The conglomerate web page may then be printed using a standard browser print function.

A computer network provides distribution of a multithread process among different data processing stations in the network. In one embodiment, a global name server is used to distribute the threads and update values associated with the threads. When the process is created, the global name server establishes a distributed process context by dividing logical addresses used by the process among physical addresses corresponding to respective portions of the system memory devices (RAM) in different data processing stations. The global name server assigns a universally unique identification number (UUID) to each process, and uses the UUID to manage the distributed threads. When the data in the distributed process context is updated, the changes are apparent to all threads executing in the distributed process. This approach simplifies access and retrieval of shared process context information, and may be implemented using current thread models, making it easier to incorporate into existing networks.

An object oriented framework provides a set of objects that perform computer system server functions and that permit a framework user to add extensions for specific processing features, thereby producing a server program for managing computer system resources and performing desired functions. The framework includes a Server class of objects, which provides the server environment in which the objects performing server functions exist and serves as the primary interface between the server and the client machines, and includes a Service Object (SO) category of classes, whose objects comprise server function objects and implement two methods, one method called runMeFirst( ) and another method called runMeSecond( ) such that the runMeFirst( ) method is executed before the runMeSecond( ) method and interdependencies are resolved.
