A stepper motor housing an pole structure is disclosed in which a pair of identical stator plates, each having a plurality of poles, are positioned back to back with the poles projecting in opposite directions, the stator plates being positioned between a pair of substantially identical stator cups, each stator cup having a plurality of poles projecting inwardly from a back wall with a peripheral side wall terminating in an outwardly extending flange. A major surface of each flange is in contact with a face on one of the stator plates so as to assure a low reluctance magnetic path.

Stepper motor housing and pole assembly

A decoupling and speed governing mechanism is disclosed for a spring returned drive train driven by a stepper motor. A pinion assembly in the drive train is rotatably coupled to the rotor by dogs on the assembly which engage spokes in a rotor in the motor when the assembly is in a first position along the axis of the rotor. The pinion assembly also includes weighted shoes which move outwardly when the assembly rotates at greater than a predetermined speed to frictionally engage an internal drum surface in the rotor to govern the drive train speed when the assembly is in a second axial position relative to the rotor.

Speed governing and decoupling drive mechanism

A variable torque slip clutch is disclosed in which first and second members configured with first and second surfaces of revolution respectively transverse to an axis are positioned for sliding contact between the surfaces of revolution. A bias spring in the form of a warped disc is positioned to urge the surfaces together and a disc shaped retainer cooperates with one of the first and second members to variably compress the bias spring. The member which cooperates with the retainer is configured with ramp surface segments having a plurality of protrusions thereon angularly spaced about the axis. The retainer is configured with tongues which engage the protrusions so as to permit rotational repositioning of the retainer relative to the member with which it cooperates only after axially displacing the retainer relative to the member.

Variable torque slip clutch

An electric damper motor drive with a backup power pack is disclosed comprising a reversible electric motor operable in first and second opposite directions in response to first and second distinct forms of electrical energization, respectively. A primary power source normally supplies electrical power to energize the motor in response to a sensed environmental condition. A backup power pack is responsive to the absence of power from the primary power source to supply the first form of electrical energization to drive the motor in the first direction to a predetermined position.

An air conditioning system furnishing temperature conditioned air to a plurality of zones each of which has its own zone damper controlled by its own space thermostat. The system has an air discharge temperature sensor downstream of the temperature conditioning heat exchanger which is connected to a microprocessor controller for controlling a plurality of stages of temperature conditioning apparatus such as heating or cooling apparatus and a damper motor control for controlling the entry of outdoor air into the system. A reset thermal comfort sensor located in a representative zone or area is connected to the microprocessor controller for varying the controlled temperature of the supplied discharge air by operating the outdoor air damper motor and the multi-stage temperature conditioning apparatus to maintain the best use of outdoor air for cooling and the most efficient operation of refrigeration cooling apparatus by ensuring maximum air delivery to the heat exchangers during the operation of the mechanical cooling apparatus.

Microprocessor discharge temperature air controller for multi-stage

A reversible electric motor is caused to modulate a load in response to an off-on condition responsive device, such as a thermostat. The thermostat completes an electric circuit through an electric heater which in turn supplies heat to a bimetal. The time constant of the bimetal and heater provides a modulating action to a three position motor control switch means which has a center open position. The motor provides a follow-up action through a cam or similar mechanism to rebalance and control an appropriate load, such as a temperature altering medium source.
