A device to be connected to first electrical power wiring and for displaying electrical power usage information of at least one first electrical load connected to the first electrical power wiring, the device including terminals to electrically connect to the first electrical power wiring of a building, a controller to receive information representing at least a current to the at least one first electrical load, determine first electrical power usage information of the at least one first electrical load using the received information, a user interface to display the determined first electrical power usage information of the at least one first electrical load, and a communications interface to transmit the determined first electrical power usage information to at least one second electrical device for display, and receive determined second electrical power usage information of at least one second electrical load from the at least one second electrical device for display.

Disclosed herein, among other things, are apparatus and methods for interactive property communication. In various embodiments, an interactive property communication system includes two or more property communication nodes (PCNs) each adapted for coupling to an electrical service. PCNs include a radio transceiver for communications with a broker service adapted for controlling communications with one or more PCNs.

Interactive property communication system

A system is described for detecting at least one event of interest. The system comprises a detector, a programmable controller, and a network. Upon detection of an event of interest, the detector communicates that information to the programmable controller through the network. The programmable controller allows a user, who may be in diverse geographic locations, to control the detector.

Bi-directional wireless detection system

A module having a switch, a processor, a motion detector and a wireless transceiver. The module controls the operation of an electrical load, such as a light, based on the switch position, programming executing on the processor, an output from the motion detector or an output signal from the transceiver. The module transmits information corresponding to the electrical load, switch position, programming and detected motion. In one embodiment, the module is battery powered. In various embodiments, the module includes an intercom, a high intensity siren, and a photosensor having an output as a function of an ambient light level. In one embodiment, the module is compatible with a wireless communication protocol such as is used with BLUETOOTH&#xae;.

The system provides for alarm and other signals received from a security or other type of detection system to be verified by a remote user so as to assist in the cancellation of alarms so that false dispatches can be prevented.
