A self-lubricating SLZ-type tow dolly assembly provides a self-lubricating bearing sleeve operable in an SLZ-type tow dolly. This serves to negate the need for grease fittings and manually greasing of the spindle bushing. The self-lubricating bearing sleeve press fit into a spindle bushing disposed in a spindle assembly to lubricate the spindle bolt. This facilitates rotational motion against the spindle bolt. In one embodiment, the self-lubricating bearing sleeve is a self-lubricating Igus M250 bearing sleeve that press fits into dolly pivot bushings. Rotational and linear motion creates pressure that discharges incremental amounts of the lubricant. Thus, self-lubricating bearing sleeve serves as a self-lubricating, pivot-point bearing sleeve. The self-lubricating bearing sleeve may be a plastic component with a lubricant integral therein. This allows for self-lubricating of bushing and spindle components during rotation of spindle assembly. In alternative embodiments, a trip assembly and a spindle assembly operate in the self-lubricating bearing sleeve.

Each drawer pulls out laterally and then tilts and arcs downward at the front end of the drawer to provide ready and convenient access to a towing dolly at a level below waist level of a tow truck driver who desires to use the towing dolly during a recovery operation conducted regarding a motor vehicle.

An apparatus for stowing or extending for loading and unloading a towing dolly. The invention comprises a vertical support stand upon which rotate a pair of spaced apart pivot arms connected to a bracket into which is placed the towing dolly. The apparatus utilizes a novel self-locking flange which rotates so as to secure the dolly within the mounting bracket when it is pivoted into the storage position, and rotates so as to release the dolly from the bracket when the device is pivoted into the load/unload position. The apparatus may be secured into the storage position by means of a spring operated latch arm and latch pin. Further, the invention provides a locking lug for locking the towing dolly into the dolly mount to prevent theft of the towing dolly.

Self-locking parallel-motion dolly mount

An apparatus for stowing and extending for removal a towing dolly used for towing automotive vehicles. The apparatus is formed from a generally vertical support stand which is secured to the bed of a towing vehicle. Pivotally connected to the support stand is a first arm having a range of motion extending from a near vertical storage position to a near horizontal load/unload position. Pivotally attached to the first arm is a second arm which is in a near vertical position during loading and remains in a near vertical position as the first arm is pivoted into the storage position, such that the two arms are now nearly parallel. This relationship is maintained by a gas spring pivotally connected to the support stand and the second arm such that the gas spring maintains a generally parallel configuration with the first arm. A dolly mount is attached to the end of the second arm for releasably securing a towing dolly to the vertical arm. A second embodiment is disclosed whereby a pair of generally parallel, vertically disposed arms are pivotally connected in a spaced apart relation between the support stand and the dolly mount to form a parallelogram linkage. A gas spring is pivotally connected between the support stand and the dolly mount for controlling pivotal rotation of the arms whereby an operator may quickly load and unload a towing dolly from the apparatus.
