A paper tissue and products made from paper tissue, such as paper handkerchiefs, facial tissues, bath and cosmetic tissues, paper tissue wipes of any kinds and the like. The invention describes both the process for making a smooth and absorbent lotioned paper tissue, with high transferability of the lotion. The process steps comprises the steps of (a) providing a paper tissue web continuously moving next to a lotion application unit comprising at least one rotating surface, (b) transferring said lotion onto one rotating surface,'(c) expulsing said lotion from the said rotating surface into a stream of lotion droplets, by primarily the centrifugal force of the rotation of said rotating surface, (d) intercepting said paper tissue with said stream of lotion droplets. The invention also describes a paper tissue comprising a lotion distributed as discrete deposits on its surface. The deposits have a high local concentration of lotion and cover a relatively small area of the tissue.

Paper tissue with high lotion transferability

A method and system for diagnosing pathology, such as carcinoma, in a biological sample identifies presence of pathology based on the existence of an infrared markers in the extracellular material, rather than cells, in the biological sample. In the case of breast cancer diagnosis, an effective marker is a baseline slope of a 1280 cmband in the infrared spectra of connective tissue, with normal biopsy samples exhibiting a positive slope and cancerous samples showing a relatively flat baseline. Infrared spectroscopy, both microscopic and macroscopic, may be used to identify a sample region containing extracellular material and to collect infrared absorbance data, from which the existence of the pathology marker is determined.

Method and system for diagnosing pathology in biological samples by detection of infrared spectral markers

A method and system performs Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) imaging microspectroscopy on a biological sample fixed on a substrate with a supporting surface that generally reflects infrared light while generally transmitting visible light. Infrared light impinging on the biological sample is reflected by the supporting surface of the substrate. Infrared light from the sample is focused onto a focal-plane array detector with multiple pixels for detecting infrared images of the sample. The detected infrared images are processed to generate spectral images of the sample. The same biological sample is suitable for conventional pathological studies.
