In some examples, a projector is controlled to project an image content onto a projection surface in a region defining a display area. Captured images are received that are captured by at least one optical sensor of the projected image content on the projection surface. In the captured images, user touches of a plurality of designated locations of the projected image content on the projection surface are detected. A position of an interaction area based on the detected user touches is determined, and, based on the determined position of the interaction area, it is determined whether the display area and the interaction area coincide.

A data storage device includes a first read mechanism, a second read mechanism, and a data storage medium movable with respect to the first read mechanism and the second read mechanism. A first reference patch containing reference bits is positioned near a first corner of the data storage medium. The first read mechanism is configured to read the reference bits of the first reference patch and the second read mechanism is configured to read the reference bits of a second reference patch. The storage device also includes a controller configured to determine whether the first read mechanism and the data storage medium are offset with respect to each other based upon the reference bits read by the first read mechanism and the reference bits read by the second mechanism.

A parallel data storage device includes a data storage medium having a first cluster and a second cluster. The first cluster includes a first patch and the second cluster includes a second patch. A first multiplexer is used for addressing the first cluster while a second multiplexer is used for addressing the second cluster. A circuit and method are provided for generating light to illuminate a subject such as a print medium for scanning using, for example, a contact image sensor. The circuit includes a light emitting diode and a variable current control circuit coupled to the light emitting diode. The variable current control circuit is configured to establish a current through the light emitting diode, the magnitude of the current being variable. The variable current control circuit includes a programmable current sink. Alternatively, the variable current control circuit may also include an offset current sink. The programmable current sink and the offset current sink (if included) are employed to establish the variable current through the light emitting diode.

System and method for illuminating light emitting diodes in a contact image sensor

An imaging system scans a color original and provides a signal with limited chromaticity for use by a print engine or a display. A light source illuminates the original with primary color intensities, for example 21% red, 72% green, and 7% blue. A sensor integrates the reflected intensities to provide a luminance signal. Matrix multiplication to convert to luminance is avoided. In a variation, illumination is provided with 6/19 red, 9/19 green, and 4/19 blue to provide a gray scale image of, for example, business graphics. Such an image has distinguishable variation for colors of equal lightness (L*).

An available input of to a motor controller is used to measure the motor power supply voltage. Typically, a scaled down version of the voltage is sensed. The microprocessor is used to calculate the motor control current, in that case, is then calculated from the scaled down version. A scale factor that depends upon the sensitivity of the motor current to the motor supply voltage is calculated by the microprocessor. Driving parameters in the controller are then adjusted to account for the scale factor. In a preferred embodiment, the driving parameters are PWM parameters, and the microprocessor multiplies the measured power supply voltage to obtain a scale factor that can then be multiplied by the nominal PWM values to obtain the new PWM values.

Current magnitude variation correction for open loop stepper motor driver circuit

Embodiments of a electrophotographic printer with modular scanner/copier attached are shown and described, each embodiment having a paper exit system for collating convenience copies separate from the printed pages from a host device's job, for example, a computer word-processing job. The exit system includes a first paper path and a second paper path joining at a junction, with a rotating member that operates in the junction to direct the paper to the first path or to the second path, either by contacting and turning the paper or by allowing the paper to proceed unobstructed. Preferably, one of the paths is a generally horizontal path, for allowing printed/copied papers to stack horizontally on a table surface or tray. Preferably, one of the paths is a generally vertical path, for allowing the papers to accumulate in a generally vertical storage slot. The rotating member is controlled by an interrupt/queuing logic system and a mechanical switch that automatically rotates the rotating member when an interrupting convenience copy is started, so that the convenience copies will travel to the opposite path and housing port from those being used for the current, host's job. Once the interrupting job is done, the logic system automatically switches the rotating member back to its original position. A manual handle may also be used as an override, to move the rotating member to a preferred position, so that the corresponding path and port may be used until an interrupting job is started. The paper exit system is preferably used with a modular scanner that snaps or slides onto the outside of the printer between, and not covering, the printer's two output ports.
