An electromechanical brake system has a brake actuator with a power transmission for transmitting an actuating force to a brake pad. The power transmission includes a rotatable shaft, a coupler with a locking element, wherein the coupler can be controlled so that the locking element is engaged with the rotatable shaft and blocks its rotation or so that the locking element is disengaged from the rotatable shaft so that the rotatable shaft can be rotated. The brake system has a first receptacle into which a first tool can be inserted so that it engages with the rotatable shaft and transmits a rotation on the rotatable shaft.

Electromechanical brake system and method for releasing an electro-mechanical brake system

An apparatus for providing a redundant communication within a vehicle architecture is disclosed. The vehicle architecture includes a plurality of commanded units, each being configured to be controlled by redundant communication lines. The apparatus includes at least a first control unit and a second control unit, which are connected by an interlink communication line and which are each configured to: communicate with the commanded units through one of the redundant communications lines; and communicate with each other through the communication lines by controlling at least one of the plurality of commanded units to act as a gateway unit and to forward information between the redundant communication lines.

A steering system for a vehicle includes a steering gear, two knuckles of two steerable wheels, a steering actuator, a plurality of sensors, and a processing unit. The steering gear is connected to a first knuckle of the two knuckles and the steering gear is connected to a second knuckle of the two knuckles. The steering gear is connected to the steering actuator. The sensors are mounted at locations associated with the steering gear. Each of the plurality of sensors is configured to acquire steering system position information. Each of the plurality of sensors are configured to provide acquired steering system information to the processing unit.
