A device for support of an organ ex vivo comprises a chamber with a first engagement feature. A support structure includes a second engagement feature. The first and second engagement features may be engaged so that the chamber body is carried by the support structure for rotation. The chamber body comprises first and second chamber components. In a first orientation of the chamber body, the first chamber component provides support for a first surface of the organ, and the second chamber component is removable so that a second surface of the organ is exposed to manipulation from outside the chamber body. In a second orientation of the chamber body, the second chamber component provides support for the second surface of the organ, and the first chamber component is removable so that the first surface of the organ is exposed to manipulation from outside the chamber body.

Device for support of an organ ex vivo and method using such device

A surgical-implement count and capture system including a carrier tape having a plurality of spaced-apart receiving areas disposed longitudinally along the carrier tape. Each of the plurality of spaced-apart receiving areas being configured to receive a surgical-implement. The carrier tape is configured to follow a first pathway. A deposit station is located along the first pathway and is adapted to accommodate deposition of a plurality of the surgical-implements respectively into successive ones of the spaced-apart receiving areas when resident at the deposit station. A counting station is located along the first pathway downstream of the deposit station. The counting station includes a sensor adapted to detect the plurality of the surgical-implements in the respective receiving areas.

Surgical-implement count and capture system

A needle collection and counting tray for use in a clinical setting, such as an operating room, into which a user deposits used needles. The tray is then placed into a counting and identification machine the utilizes object recognition technology to identify and count the needles on the tray.

Machine vision needle counting imaging tray

A system for monitoring surgical objects is provided. An entry scanner captures a first set of image data from a surgical object identifier. A containment surface defines a target field of view. An exit scanner captures a second set of image data from a surgical object identifier within the target field of view. A monitoring system is electrically connected to at least one of the entry and exit scanners. The monitoring system has a surgical object recognition module having a database of pre-existing surgical object identifier data. The surgical recognition module identifies at least one of the number of surgical objects, the type of surgical objects, and the number of each type of surgical objects from the first and second sets of image data by comparing the first and second sets of image data with the pre-existing surgical object identifier data.
