Adjustable mouthpiece apparatuses for intraoral therapy are provided. The mouthpiece apparatus may comprise at least one emitting element to emit at least one therapeutic emission. In some embodiments, the mouthpiece apparatus comprises an upper panel and a lower panel and at least one adjustable connector interconnecting the upper panel and the lower panel and adjustable to change the spacing between the upper panel and the lower panel. The mouthpiece apparatus may thereby be adjusted for a range of vestibular heights. Also provided are related systems including adjustable mouthpiece apparatuses and related methods for making an adjustable mouthpiece apparatus.

Mouthpiece apparatus for intraoral therapy and related system and method

An ultrasound gel is provided for use with internal ultrasound imaging and/or therapy. The gel can have acoustic properties that can closely match a soft tissue to be imaged/treated and can be of a high viscosity that is maintained at body temperature. In some embodiments, the gel can act as a lubricant and, although water based, can be hydrophobic and not dissolve in bodily fluids. In some embodiments, the gel can be sterile, safe for ingestion, safe for application over mucous membranes, and include a preservative. In order to achieve sterility while maintaining a desired viscosity range, the gel can include a viscosity stabilising agent such as a viscosity protection agent for protection from radiation induced breakdown. In some embodiments, methods of altering or maintaining the viscosity of a gel is provided.

Viscosity and stability modified ultrasound gel

Ultrasonic devices, systems, and methods for orthodontic treatment performed with aligners are described. Such devices, systems, and methods are to provide multiplicative treatment duration shortening for patients under orthodontic treatment with aligners, such as clear aligners. Communication of desired ultrasound treatment can be communicated from an aligner to an ultrasound device by a communication module using an identification number on the aligner and entering the identification number into the system, an identification number on an external document and entering the identification number into the system, a scannable code and code reader, and an assessment by a dentist and entering the assessment into the system, a radio-frequency identification (RFID) transponder and RFID reader, a change in material properties of the aligner and reading the material properties, or a change in optical properties and reading the optical properties.

Ultrasonic methods and devices for orthodontic treatment with aligners

The present disclosure relates to an artificial saliva gel and uses thereof to treat or ameliorate dry mouth (xerostomia). The gel can be of a high viscosity that is maintained at body temperature or when exposed to bodily fluids (for instance, saliva). In some embodiments, the gel can act as a lubricant. Although water-based, the gel can be hydrophobic and not readily dissolvable in bodily fluids. In some embodiments, the gel can be sterile, safe for long-term repeated ingestion, and include a preservative. In some embodiments, the gel can comprise a dental agent for inhibiting growth of dental microorganisms. In order to achieve sterility while maintaining a desired viscosity range, the gel can include a viscosity stabilising agent such as a viscosity protection agent for protection from radiation induced breakdown. The gel can also include a coloring and/or a flavoring agent.

Artificial saliva, related methods, and uses

Composite materials and methods of producing the same are provided. In some embodiments, the composite materials can comprise a polymer substrate, an intermediary material, such as a metal or oxide, mechanically attached onto the polymer substrate, and an elastomer bonded to the polymer substrate on the side of the polymer substrate comprising the intermediary materials. The elastomer can be bonded to the polymer substrate irreversibly, where the elastomer and the polymer substrate cannot be separated at their interface without breaking either the elastomer or the polymer substrate. In some embodiments, a primer and/or an epoxy can also be used. Uses of material sputtering or sputtered materials are also provided to bond a parylene substrate and silicone elastomer, or to enhance the relative strength of the bonding between the two. In addition, composite materials, and the use thereof, involving a parylene substrate, an elastomer receptacle, and liquid silicone are provided.

Silicone and polymer substrate composite materials, methods, and uses of the same

Devices and methods for ultrasonic dental treatment are described, wherein the devices and methods can comprise a flexible array of cooperative ultrasound transducers. The array can contain individual ultrasonic transducers that can perform both functions of emitting and sensing. The transducers can have the ability to interchange their functions from emitting to sensing. The transducers can cooperate in providing an ultrasound treatment and each transducer can be independently controlled by an external source controller. An ultrasound system is provided comprising: an ultrasound transducer sensor array operable to emit or sense ultrasound, wherein the timing and intensity of emission may be controlled by an electronic controller based on a feedback signal from the sensors. In addition the ultrasound system can also have the ability to sense coupling to a treatment tissue. This ability to sense proper coupling can improve the efficacy of the treatment.

Ultrasonic methods and devices for dental treatment

Apparatuses and methods for measuring and characterizing ultrasound using thermoacoustic sensors are provided. Thermoacoustic sensors can include heat flux sensors for detecting a temperature difference (between the front and back of the heat flux sensor) and an absorber layer attached to the heat flux sensor for absorbing ultrasound, converting it to heat, and also acting as an acoustic impedance matching layer. An heat sink can also be used. In some embodiments, thermoacoustic sensors can be arranged into an acoustic integrating sphere and face inward to form a cavity. The sphere can have an opening to the cavity, wherein ultrasound emitted through the opening can cause a temperature difference that can be detected by the thermoacoustic sensors. These apparatuses and others can provide for methods of measuring ultrasound power and/or methods of determining an ultrasound profile as the angular distribution of emitted ultrasound power generated by an ultrasound transducer.
