An interbody system including an implant and a tool for inserting and expanding the medical implant and locking the implant in place is disclosed. The medical implant may include an expandable body defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate that are hingedly coupled and may be expanded and lordosed. The superior and inferior endplate may include gripping protrusions that mate and/or directly engage with recessed jaws of disclosed surgical tool. The surgical tool may include a vertically movable jaw to expand and contract the implant when engaged with the gripping protrusions of the implant. The surgical tool may also include a drive portion that engages the drive feature of the lock screw with the drive end of the surgical tool lock the implant while in an expanded position.

Parallel jaw inserter

An orthopedic trialing instrument may include a shaft extending from a first end to a second end, a handle coupled to the shaft, and a first interbody trial disposed on the first end. In various embodiments, the first interbody trial may include a first bone screw indicator configured to visually represent a corresponding bone screw trajectory. In some embodiments, a double-sided orthopedic trialing instrument may include a first interbody trial on a first end and a second interbody trial on a second end. In various embodiments, each of the first interbody trial and second interbody trial may have at least one bone screw protrusion configured to visually represent a corresponding bone screw trajectory. In some embodiments, a plurality of orthopedic trialing instruments having differently sized interbody trials may be provided as a kit.

Surgical implant

An expandable spinal implant is provided having first and second endplates hinged along one end and an expansion mechanism disposed therebetween configured to expand the first and second endplates from each other to provide a lordotic angle of up to 60 degrees. Various implants, systems and methods are disclosed.

A spinal implant includes a body having opposite first and second end walls and opposite first and second side walls. The side walls each extend from the first end wall to the second end wall. A first cap is coupled to top ends of the walls. A second cap is coupled to bottom ends of the walls. The elongated outer-sheath may include an interior cavity that defines a centrally disposed longitudinal axis that extends in the longitudinal direction, for example. The surgical tool may include a central-sheath disposed within the interior cavity that extends in the longitudinal direction, for example. The surgical instrument may further include an inner-shaft rotatably supported by the central-sheath that extends in the longitudinal direction, for example. The inner-shaft may include a driver configured to selectively drive a bone screw upon rotation of the inner-shaft about the longitudinal axis, for example.

A vertebral fixation plate assembly for securing adjacent vertebral bodies is provided that is configured to distract or extend along its length, as well as provide multiple degrees of freedom between the fixation points and the vertebral fixation plate in order to accommodate different installation locations, as well as different surgical approaches. Methods of using the vertebral fixation plate assembly are also provided.

An instrument includes a sleeve extending between proximal and distal ends. The sleeve defines a passageway. The proximal end includes an aperture extending into an outer surface of the sleeve. The distal end includes an engagement surface and an opening extending through the engagement surface. The opening is in communication with the passageway. A member is movably disposed in the aperture. The member includes a spring and a body. The body defines a bore. A shaft extends between opposite proximal and distal ends.
