An apparatus removes acidic gases from a gas stream. The apparatus remove acid gas from a gas stream in a manner that generates a product gas stream at a higher temperature while consuming less energy than the existing technology. The apparatus enables the positive gas temperature differential to be maintained by manipulating the absorber column operating conditions and/or the solvent chemistry to increase the amount of absorption and reaction in the absorber.

Apparatus for removing an acid gas from a gas stream

A process and an apparatus are described, which remove acid gas from a gas stream in a manner that generates a product gas stream at a higher temperature while consuming less energy than the existing technology. The process requires maintaining a positive product gas temperature differential. The apparatus enables the positive gas temperature differential to be maintained by manipulating the absorber column operating conditions and/or the solvent chemistry to increase the amount of absorption and reaction in the absorber.

The present invention relates to a gas purification system for removal of acidic gases from a gas stream. The system comprises an absorption unit arranged for receiving a gas stream and contacting it with a wash solution stream and a cooling unit in fluid communication with the absorption unit. The cooling unit receives wash solution enriched with acidic gases from a first withdrawal level of said absorption unit, cools the enriched wash solution, and provides cooled, enriched wash solution to a first reintroduction level of the absorption unit upstream of the withdrawal level.
