The socket system includes a socket and a vacuum liner. A one-way valve is positioned within the closed distal end of the socket and provides controlled fluid communication between the interior socket space and an external environment. The closed distal end of the vacuum liner includes a distal portion formed of a higher durometer elastomeric material than the surrounding portions of the liner, and including a concave section extending from an external surface thereof towards the interior liner space. The socket, on the interior of the closed distal end thereof, includes a receiving portion that corresponds to and receives the distal portion of the vacuum liner (e.g. matching the perimeter and depth of the distal portion). The receiving portion includes a bottom surface (e.g. a flat surface) opposite to the concave section of the vacuum liner when received therein, and defining an exterior liner space therewith.

Socket system including a vacuum liner for prosthetic or orthotic devices and associated methods

The sealing sheath is for use with a prosthetic socket and associated liner. The sealing sheath includes a textile tube for surrounding at least a portion of a liner that is configured to wear on a residual limb. An annular seal, e.g. an elastomeric or silicone seal, is positioned adjacent a proximal end of the textile tube and continuously extends from an inside of the textile tube configured to be adjacent the liner, through the textile tube to an outside thereof configured to be adjacent an inside of the prosthetic socket. The annular seal may include a first wing on an inside of the textile tube configured to be adjacent the liner, a second wing on an outside of the textile tube configured to be adjacent an inside of the prosthetic socket, and a base connecting lower ends of the first and second wings to define a v-shaped cross-section of the annular seal.

Sealing sheath for prosthetic liner and related methods

The liner or sleeve is for use around a joint, for example, as a skin interface between a limb and a prosthetic or orthotic device. The liner or sleeve includes an elastomeric material defining a tubular member to be positioned around a joint. A tendon is attached along a portion of the tubular member to urge the elastomeric material at such portion of the tubular member to contract. The tendon may be integrally molded within the portion of the tubular member. The tendon may be formed of an elastomeric material having a higher durometer hardness relative to the durometer hardness of the tubular member elastomeric material. With the present approach, it is possible to maintain the use of a two part mold while providing a liner or sleeve with enhanced flexion adjacent to a joint area.

Flexion enhancement member for prosthetic or orthotic liner or sleeve and associated methods

The expulsion liner is for use with a prosthetic device to be secured to a residual limb. The expulsion liner includes an elongated elastomeric tube having a closed distal end and an open proximal end, and defining an interior space configured to receive the residual limb. A one-way valve is positioned within the closed distal end and provides controlled fluid communication between the interior space and an external environment. The one-way valve may be configured to allow the weight of a user, via the residual limb, to expel moisture and air from the interior space out to the external environment.

Expulsion liner for prosthetic or orthotic devices and associated methods

The mounting plate system is for use with a prosthetic socket, the socket having at least one aperture in a distal end thereof and in fluid communication with an interior portion of the socket which receives a residual limb. The mounting plate system includes a mounting plate having a top face to interface with the socket, and a bottom face for attachment to lower portions of a prosthetic limb. An opening in the mounting plate extends from the top face to the bottom face thereof, and a valve housing is positioned in the opening and has a channel therein for fluid communication with the interior portion of the socket via the at least one aperture. A one-way expulsion valve is secured between the valve housing and the socket adjacent the aperture and for regulating fluid communication between the interior portion of the socket and the channel in the valve housing. A vacuum reservoir seal plate is also provided.
