Aspects of the disclosure relate to an ATM internal self-repair recovery system. The system may be included in software updates transmitted to the ATM. The system may include an XML file and a log file. Prior to execution of each instruction included in the XML file, the system may write an intelligent log statement to the log file. A standalone web service may monitor the log file to determine new entries to the log file. When a new entry is the last entry for more than a predetermined amount of time, a midstream ATM stall may be determined. The system may compare the new entry to an ATM stall action table. The comparison may determine an appropriate action to repair the installation process based on the table. The ATM may perform the appropriate action and thereby recover from the failures that occurred during the update process.

The computer may receive an indication of a start point to begin executing the task sequence, and may execute the task sequence beginning at the start point.

A request for identification information of an image version may be sent from a first computer to a second computer. The first computer may receive identification information of the image version. Responsive to determining that data representing the image version is stored on the removable computer-readable storage medium, the first computer may load the data representing the image version from the removable computer-readable storage medium.

A first computer may identify connection of a removable computer-readable storage medium to the first computer. The first computer may determine whether data representing a particular version of an image of a software stack for the first computer exists on the removable computer-readable storage medium. Responsive to determining that no data representing the particular version of the image of the software stack for the first computer exists on the removable computer-readable storage medium, data indicating that no data representing the particular version of the image of the software stack for the first computer exists on the removable computer-readable storage medium may be outputted, and data representing a second computer with data representing the particular version of the image of the software stack for the first computer may be outputted.

Cross-updating of software between self-service financial transaction machines

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for software updates using delta patching are described. A first computer may compare a first image representative of a plurality of software stacks, and a second image representative of at least one and less than all of the plurality of software stacks to determine a difference between the second image and the first image. The first computer may generate a file representative of the difference between the second image and the first image. The file may include data of instructions for removing each software stack of the plurality of software stacks represented in the first image and not represented in the second image from a second computer. Data representative of the file representative of the difference between the second image and the first image may be recorded to a computer-readable storage medium.
