A system for bidirectional device authentication between two computing devices is disclosed. A first processor generates a first random number sequence, performs a first operation on the first random number sequence to determine a first table address, and retrieves a first entry in the first table based on the first table address. The processor also executes a first transformation function on the first entry to generate a first transformed entry, transmits the first random number sequence to the second computing device, receives an encoded entry from a second computing device in response to transmission of the first random number sequence, and decodes the encoded entry to determine a second transformed entry. The first transformed entry matches the second transformed entry, and the first processor performs an update to a dynamic table by replacing each entry of the dynamic table with an associated transformed entry.

Methods and systems for bidirectional device authentication

A BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled computing device is configured to use a 'pseudo' device identifier to prevent undesired device interference during BLUETOOTH&#xae; pairing. The computing device includes a processor configured to a) retrieve a first BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier used for identifying the computing device, b) convert the first BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier into a second BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier, c) advertise availability of the computing device using the second BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier, d) receive a pairing request from a second computing device, e) establish a BLUETOOTH&#xae; communications path between the computing device and the second computing device, wherein the BLUETOOTH&#xae; communications path is created based at least partially on the second BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier, f) provide the first BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier as a substitute for the second BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier, and g) update the BLUETOOTH&#xae; communications path between the computing device and the second computing device based on the first BLUETOOTH&#xae; device identifier.

Methods and systems for enhanced BLUETOOTH&#xae; bonding

A method is provided for affirming the pairing of BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled devices using an affirmation key. The method is performed by a BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled peripheral computing device. The method includes a) advertising availability of the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled peripheral computing device for pairing, b) receiving a scan request from a BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device, c) transmitting a scan response to the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device in response to the scan request, d) providing an affirmation value to the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device, e) receiving a connection request from the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device, f) establishing a connection with the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device, g) identifying an affirmation key provided by the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device, wherein the affirmation key is provided within an affirmation key characteristic, h) validating that the affirmation key is valid, and i) pairing with the BLUETOOTH&#xae; enabled central computing device.

Methods and systems for a device pairing system configured to pair and including a peripheral device (PD) and a central device (CD), and memory communicatively coupled to processor(s) and storing instructions that cause the system to perform when executed by processor(s): establishing a connection over a wireless communication channel between the devices; conducting, by the CD, a discovery of a characteristic value of the PD; determining an authentication determination prior to device pairing based on determination of a central characteristic value to arrive at one of a successful determination and an unsuccessful determination; utilizing the CD to send a pairing request to the PD to initiate pairing over the wireless communication channel based upon the characteristic discovery of the characteristic value of the PD; and, in response to the successful determination as the authentication determination, approving the pairing request with the PD and sending a pairing response to the CD.

Affirmative pairing systems and methods for devices

Persons with diabetes often carry a handheld glucose meter as well as a portable computing device, such as a mobile phone. Given the close proximity of these two devices, the portable computing device can serve as a data collector for the glucose measures taken by the glucose meter. Improved techniques are set forth for transferring glucose measures automatically and seamlessly to the patient's portable computing device, including transmitting a single glucose measure automatically in response to navigating away from an interface which displays to the glucose measure.
