Various implementations include portable speakers configured to adjust audio output based on detected input connections. In certain cases, a portable speaker includes: an enclosure having: at least one electro-acoustic transducer for providing an audio output, a processor coupled with the at least one transducer; and an audio input module coupled with the processor for receiving audio input signals; a set of input channels each for receiving a hard-wired audio input connection at the enclosure; a set of wireless input channels for receiving audio input from a source device; and a set of docks for housing two or more wireless transmitters configured to provide the audio input via the set of wireless input channels.

Portable speaker with automatic detecting input channel

Various implementations include portable speakers with detachable wireless transmitters. In some particular aspects, a portable speaker includes an enclosure housing: at least one electro-acoustic transducer for providing an audio output, a processor coupled with the at least one transducer; an audio input module coupled with the processor for receiving audio input signals; and an input channel for receiving a hard-wired audio input connection at the enclosure; at least one wireless transmitter detachably housed in the enclosure and in communication with a corresponding wireless input channel for receiving audio input from a source device.

Various implementations include portable speakers configured to adjust audio output based on detected input connections. A cable assembly configured to electrically connect an active loudspeaker to a source device that comprises a source of electrical power and audio signals. The cable assembly includes a primary sheath, a group of power conductors within the primary sheath and configured to carry electrical power, a group of audio signal conductors within the primary sheath and configured to carry audio signals, a cable-mount connector male plug comprising a first plurality of power pins that terminate a first end of each power conductor and a second plurality of audio signal pins that terminate a first end of each audio signal conductor, wherein the cable-mount connector plug is configured to be coupled to a panel mount connector female socket of the source device, and a cable-mount connector female socket comprising a first plurality of power receptacles that terminate a second end of each power conductor and a second plurality of audio signal receptacles that terminate a second end of each audio signal conductor, wherein the cable-mount connector socket is configured to be coupled to a panel mount connector male plug of the active loudspeaker.

Active loudspeaker and cable assembly

A portable public address (PA) speaker comprises an enclosure constructed and arranged for positioning at a first position having a vertical orientation to output audio shaped for a first acoustic coverage area, a second position having an angular orientation to output audio shaped for a second acoustic coverage area, and a third position having a horizontal orientation to output audio shaped for a third acoustic coverage area. The weight of the speaker rests on a bottom surface of a base when in the first position having the vertical orientation or the second position having the angular orientation. The weight of the speaker rests on a side surface when in the third position having the horizontal orientation.

Portable speaker configurations

A loudspeaker battery charging device comprises a three-position selector that establishes one of a first, second, or third charging mode for charging a battery of a loudspeaker. The first charging mode pertains to an off state of the loudspeaker. The second charging mode pertains to an on state of the loudspeaker. The third charging mode pertains to a fast charge state of the loudspeaker. A controller receives a signal from the three-position power switch indicating a selected charging mode of the first, second, or third charging mode. A switch circuit outputs a first power-supplying level in response to the first or second charging mode and outputs a second power-supplying level higher than the first power-supplying level in response to the third charging mode.

Battery charging systems and methods

A compact and portable loudspeaker system operable in two configurations includes a driver array and a base unit having a bass enclosure and a dock. In an extended configuration, the driver array is supported by one or more extension legs between three to eight feet above the base unit where one of the extension legs is held by the dock. The base unit may be placed on a floor of a small to medium venue with the mid-to-high range driver array elevated near or above the elevation of an audience in the venue. In a compact configuration, the driver array is directly supported by the dock and the base unit and driver array may be placed on a table or desk in a classroom, conference room, or other such small to medium venue. The portable loudspeaker system may be transported in the compact configuration.
