A three-dimensional hydraulically entangled nonwoven composite structure made of nonwoven fibrous web and a fibrous material integrated in the nonwoven fibrous web by hydraulic entanglement is disclosed. The nonwoven composite structure has a greater ability to maintain an embossed pattern when wet and has the ability for the structure to recover after it has been compressed, to a greater degree than previously found. Also disclosed is a method of making an embossed hydraulically entangled nonwoven composite fabric.

Embossed nonwoven fabric

Wiping products are disclosed containing an additive composition that enhances the cleaning properties of the product. The additive composition, for instance, comprises an aqueous dispersion containing an alpha-olefin polymer, an ethylene-carboxylic acid copolymer, or mixtures thereof. The alpha-olefin polymer may comprise an interpolymer of ethylene and octene, while the ethylene-carboxylic acid copolymer may comprise ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer. The additive composition may also contain a dispersing agent, such as a fatty acid. The additive composition increases various properties of the product including the ability of the product to quickly absorb oil. For instance, the additive composition can decrease the Oil Absorbency Rate by from about 20% to about 80% and can decrease the Reverse Osmosis Oil Wet Out time by from about 10% to about 80%.

A multi-ply fabric is provided that includes an inner ply positioned between two outer plies that contain both thermoplastic fibers and absorbent staple fibers. The plies are ultrasonically bonded together. The material used to form the inner ply may be selectively controlled to optimize certain properties of the fabric for a particular application, such as strength, bulk, absorption capacity, absorption rate, handfeel, etc.

Ultrasonically laminated multi-ply fabrics

A nonwoven composite fabric is provided that contains one or more abraded (e.g., sanded) surfaces. In addition to improving the softness and handfeel of the nonwoven composite fabric, it has been unexpectedly discovered that abrading such a fabric may also impart excellent liquid handling properties (e.g., absorbent capacity, absorbent rate, wicking rate, etc.), as well as improved bulk and capillary tension.

Abraded nonwoven composite fabrics

A nonwoven fabric includes a first composite layer that includes from about 50% to about 90% by weight non-thermoplastic absorbent staple fibers and from about 10% to about 50% by weight thermoplastic fibers. A preponderance of the fibers at a first outer surface of the first composite layer comprise non-thermoplastic absorbent staple fibers and a preponderance of the fibers at a second outer surface of the first composite layer comprise thermoplastic fibers. The nonwoven fabric further includes a second composite layer that includes from about 50% to about 90% by weight non-thermoplastic absorbent staple fibers and from about 10% to about 50% by weight thermoplastic fibers. The second composite layer is adjacent the second outer surface of the first composite layer. The nonwoven fabric further includes bonded regions wherein a portion of the thermoplastic fibers of the first composite layer are fused to a portion of the thermoplastic fibers of the second composite layer, and further wherein the bonded regions have a plurality of contiguous voids.

Multi-layer nonwoven fabric

A system for dispensing wipes includes: (1) a continuous web of material joined at perforations and configured into a center feed roll; and (2) a flexible, moisture impervious pouch for containing and dispensing discrete lengths of web from the roll. The pouch includes a resealable opening for accessing and staging a leading edge of the roll of material and is adapted to dispense discrete lengths of web separated from the roll at the perforations. The pouch is constructed such that its shape closely conforms to the shape of the roll of web material and may be configured with a gusset to enable it to stand without external support.

System for dispensing wipes

A dispenser for folded interconnected disposable wipes includes at least one dispensing container having side and end walls, and a dispensing wall adjacent to the side and end walls. The dispensing wall has a center dispensing aperture located generally in the center thereof. The dispensing wall may also have an additional dispensing aperture, for example an off-center aperture or a corner dispensing aperture located near one corner of the dispensing wall adjacent to one of the end walls and one of the side walls. Disposable wipes can be withdrawn from either the corner and/or off-center dispensing aperture or the center dispensing aperture.

A sorbent material is provided comprising a porous substrate, such as a nonwoven web, having a wetting chemistry distributed substantially throughout the substrate. The wetting chemistry can comprise (a) an aliphatic alcohol ethoxylate; (b) one or more of an alkyl sulfosuccinate, an alkyl sulfate and a sulfated fatty acid ester and, optionally, (c) a fatty acid ester ethoxylate. Various formulations are provided having low metal ion concentrations, anti-static properties and/or good absorption characteristics for a broad spectrum of liquids.

Sorbent material

A liquid-distribution garment worn in body-side combination with substantially impermeable protective apparel. The garment is composed of at least one layer of a hydrophilically transmuted reinforcing fabric; and at least one layer of a hydrophilically transmuted absorbent nonwoven fabric joined to the layer of reinforcing fabric so that the joined layers have a water wicking rate of at least about 4 centimeters per 30 seconds in at least one direction. The garment may contain a body portion, sleeve portions and/or leg portions, at least one of those portions being formed from the material composed of at least one layer of a hydrophilically transmuted reinforcing fabric and at least one layer of a hydrophilically transmuted absorbent nonwoven fabric. The garment may have sub-portions that contain superabsorbents.
