An apparatus for generating a high quality image from a digital video signal includes a system for gamma correcting the digital video signal with a digital look up table and for converting the resultant digital signal to an analog video signal. Another circuit generates a triangular wave reference pattern signal and a comparator compares the analog video signal with the triangular wave reference pattern signal to form a pulse-width-modulated signal. A raster scanning print engine producing, for example, a laser beam, scans over a recording medium in accordance with the pulse-width-modulated signal, thereby forming an image of high quality on the recording medium of a print engine. This apparatus can also be used with an analog video signal by first converting the analog video signal to a digital video signal with an analog to digital converter.

Apparatus for generating an image from a digital video signal

An integrated control system comprises one or more controllers each equipped to perform a control function and to gather data (ordinarily from sensors or a video camera) relevant to the control functions. Each controller contains computer storage for the relevant data and instructions, associated with the data, for causing a remote computer to generate a visual display incorporating the data in a predetermined format; and a communication module for establishing contact and facilitating data interchange with the remote computer. The remote computer, in turn, also includes a communication module compatible with the controller-borne module, and which enables the remote computer to download the data, including current video information and/or historical and/or reference video information, and associated instructions from one or more controllers. The remote computer also includes a facility for processing the instructions to create a user interface encoded by the instructions, and which incorporates the data. In this way, controller data is coupled to instructions for displaying that data, and this totality of information is continuously accessible, on a freely selective basis, to the remote computer.

Distributed interface architecture for programmable industrial control

A device is disclosed for translating a first address field into a second address field so that data associated with the first address field can be conveniently stored in standard sized memory without the need for expensive hardware normally associated with translation tables and the like. Preferably, the translation can be provided with a simple multiplexor, and where certain conditions exist, the actual memory required to store the data can be reduced.

Image display equipment has a memory element for storing a selected combinatorial function of a cursor pattern and image field existing at an addressed cursor position, and has a controllable selector for displaying, at the cursor field, either the image field or the combined cursor field and image pattern. A single display memory can store the image field, the cursor pattern, and the selected combination of cursor pattern and image field. Selection logic addresses the stored combination pattern in lieu of the image field to provide the desired cursor display at the addressed cursor position.
